Weng, you know more about software than I thought you did. I had to look up what the hell strnstr means and after reading it I think you’re probably right. :)

Sorry about that but it was requested that thread to be removed because of some security concerns.

I've changed my avatar, yesterday; it is displayed in my avatar-menu, but at the forum the old avatar is the actual one.

Is this a software bug ?

No, it isn’t a bug. Your browser is storing the old avatar in its cache. You just have to click refresh on your browser. I see your new avatar. :)

Since yesterday, when being on this website it asks if to add or execute an Active-X operating element or so in MS Explorer in the actual webpage. Is this an error or so ?

Octahedron, I discovered the chat box might be giving you the ActiveX prompts. Here’s some info on it.

Q: How do I disable the ActiveX prompt?

A: The ActiveX prompt appears if your Internet Explorer security level is set too high. To disable the dialog, follow these steps:
  1. Select Tools -> Internet Options from the menu.
  2. Choose the Security tab.
  3. If the Default Level button is not disabled, click it.
  4. Set the Security level slider to Medium.
If that does not work, or you have set up a Custom Level, click the Custom Level button and ensure that "Run ActiveX controls and plugins" and "Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting" are both set to Enabled.

Cbox uses ActiveX in some versions of IE for refreshing and posting. However your Cbox will function fine without ActiveX if you choose to disable it.

Thanks for the answer.

Unfortunately I'm bounded to the library netwerk config standards and not allowed to make changes of the settings.

Don't people stare at you when they notice what you're typing?

Yes, everything is to be monitored.

However, they don't mind; they never will understand what I'm writing about.

Hi Richard - I have a query. I get this message now that asks "This website wants to run the following add-on: 'Windows Media Player' from 'Microsoft Corporation'. If you trust the website and the add-on and want to allow it to run, clickhere..." What is an add-on? Why is this showing up? I have Windows XP but am not computer-savvy. Windows Media Player is in my list of programs. Sorry if these are dumb questions. Any info would be much appreciated!

I’m not sure why you would be getting a message like that. It doesn’t seems like this site should be giving you any messages about add-ons. Is this the only site that gives you that message?

It's an IE message.  I see it, too, on my browser window.

This is confusing. I wonder how many other people are getting an add-on message. The only new thing to the site is the chat box and I don’t see why that would be giving some people an add-on message. Then why would it only give some people a message. DT and I don’t get any messages. I wonder if it is because someone posted a link to Windows Media Player video. I’ll look into it and see what I come up with.

Polly and Reader, can you tell me exactly when you get these messages. Do you get them when you’re just reading the forum?

When I want to reply, either from my mail program or at the website, that is when a new window opens.  That new window has the request to download the ActiveX control.  I downloaded it yesterday out of curiosity so I am not seeing that add-on request anymore.  I don't know what it changed though.  :-)
