Just before Bush' speech tonight about immigration, they cut to Bush and then immediately stopped. They claimed they had inadvertently turned the cameras on while Bush was 'rehearsing' for his speech. About a minute later they returned to the actual speech. It was obvious the speech was prerecorded and the 'rehearsing' was really just starting the prerecorded message a bit early.
But I'm wondering what the need was to lie about it and why the error was made. Stewart has said there are no accidents with this kind of thing, even when it appears to be a mistake, so I'm wondering if anyone saw the apparent miscue and had a sense as to what it was all about.
