What exactly is the liquid used in freezer cups, and is it toxic? Ordering sites are vague and do not say anything other than "gel", but what the exact chemicals used are remains a mystery. What liquid is used in freezer mugs?
What liquid is used in freezer mugs? I have read it is a non-toxic chemical similar to water, but surprisingly there is no information available as to what this exact chemical is. I'm concered because I'm worried if it leaks it might be hazardous. I had one that leaked all the fluids one time and I'm not sure if I drank it or not. I want to know the exact chemical used in freezer mugs so I know whether they are safe to use or not.

The fact that I can't find any information is very suspicious. These companies are too vague when they say "Filled with non toxic, refreezable liquid." I want to know EXACTLY what the liquid is.

I couldn't tell you what manufactures use but I know to make homemade freezer packs you can use dish soap or a mixture of water and alcohol.
