Cooking Utensil Alert
Black Nylon kitchen tools have been sold for many years. This new report from the UK might make you want to check what kind of cooking utensils you are using.
KITCHEN GOODS CANCER ALERT
Marks & Spencer, a UK retailer, has recalled 200,000 black nylon kitchen utensils after tests showed some contain traces of the chemical Diaminodiphenylmethane in material used to make them.
This chemical is linked to cancer. EU law says this should not be found in plastics used for food utensils. US laws are supposed to prevent similar exposure.
The recalled items include a black nylon spoon, ladle, turner & a masher, all made in China.
A similar chemical has been found in high levels in other Chinese-made nylon kitchen utensils.
In data listed with the CDC in 1976, Diaminodiphenylmethane is a known factor related to liver tumours and hepatitis.
