On September 11, 2001, I watched in horror as the twin towers came down. I had selfish reasons for being devastated, but something unusual changed within me that day. It was like a switch being flipped and it changed my whole perspective on how I saw people.... men especially. Since that day, a persons ears are one of the things I notice right away. It used to be their eyes, but now, I notice the ears. I notice how they sit on the side of a persons' head, their relationship to their eyes, nose and mouth, how far they stick out, and most importantly.... their shape. Right away I am classifying them as different types of beings/humanoids by the shape and size of their ears. Some are hybreds (sp?), some look like elves, etc. It's just weird because I never really paid attention to people's ears until then. I don't know why, but I find it interesting. What would one have to do with the other? And why would/should I even care about their ears?
Being new here, I don't really know yet about templates/archtypes or Draco, although I think I know what you're referring to. (Just need to see it in front of me!) Anyway, Wildflower's comment about holding her Blue Blood book up to the tv and saying "See" reminded me of how I have been pointing out the differences in people's ears to my husband. I get about the same response! lol
Just for the record... Thankfully I did not lose anyone in the towers; however, in the early 1990's the PATH subway system programming and controls were revamped. I was one of the people who worked on that project and the World Trade Center was one of my stations. For me, just knowing that my work existed in/under the World Trade Center was a huge source of pride and I felt like I had truly made a significant difference in this world. Seeing the buidings come tumbling down was a big blow, but it was really nothing at all when compared to the devastation it caused and the families that still suffer because of it.
