Goodwill is coming in waves from white wizard

A 'WHITE wizard' who sends waves of joy to commuters across Torbay has attracted a massive following on internet site Facebook.

The bearded gent known as Moses-Peter who sits at the side of the seafront road between Torquay and Paignton has been hailed a spiritual leader by some of his 5,000 followers.

Others say he is a 'living legend' and call him King Neptune and Merlin.

But the mystery man himself is reluctant to speak out.

He simply says that he is spreading a message of 'love, joy and happiness'.

And he said that the people are the stars, not him.

The 'strange waving man' has been spotted by hundreds of commuters for the past few months.

He wears beads and a headband and carries a wooden staff.

He settles on a portable chair and waves at drivers for hours at a time.

Some drivers remark that he never seems to get tired and is always smiling.

Many beep their horns and wave back.

Estate agent Keith Bowden is one of many who have had their photograph taken with the mystery man.

He said: "He seems to be one of life's eccentrics but he seems to be publicity-shy. I don't know anything about him."

The Facebook page is called 'Strange Old Man Who Sits On A Bench On The Road Between Torquay & Paignton'.

Many say that he has mystical powers.

Facebook user Kelly Child said on the site: "I saw this guy for the first time the other day and experienced an overwhelming sense of happiness when he waved at me.

" I am a very sceptical person and don't believe in wizards and other fantasy figures, but this man is somehow, well, magical."

Another fan Mags Powell said: "He's delightful. A man who seems truly happy in his own skin, with a smile and a wave for everyone. Long may he carry on."

Marian Martin Stacey said: "I saw this lovely man waving to everyone on the road from Torquay to Paignton. Don't know why but I just had to wave back. He certainly has something we all have not. God bless him. He makes us all smile."
