Hello

That’s interesting that Netzero software would disable animation. What did you have to disable to make it work?

Netzero does not disable all animations and that's another reason why I did not suspect it. The Netzero service offers a monthly 10 dollar dial up internet service and for $5 more it claims to speed up the connection. I have taken that offer and they gave me a simple program that just lowers picture quality to speed up page loads. If I unsubscribe to their "Fast Internet" package, then the program will stop working.

That reminds me of the accelerator I had with Earthlink years ago. It would do things like that too. I remember it had a few other quirks as well. I guess that’s the trade off of speeding up dialup.

There are actually internet accelerators that let you reduce the picture quality to speed up page loads without you paying a monthly fee. It's too bad most of those software comes with other acceleration features that you cannot turn off and often-times disconnect you more than the overall benefits.

Someone needs to make a software without the extra acceleration features or at least allow users to turn them all off. Because of the lack of such software, Netzero and Earthlink is ripping people off with something that people are paying monthly but is not dependent on their internet service. The "Accelerated Internet" is a scam because they do not offer you better dialup connections - just that software.

I’m not sure how Netzero’s accelerator works but I know some accelerators pre-fetch web pages onto their server that they think you might look at next. So with that type you’re paying for a service.

Netzero's accelerator is nothing more then a small software that uses the harddrive to prefetch webpages and a filter to lower picture quality (and block popups, which is a feature already belonging to the new Internet Explorer). Netzero does not prefetch any webpages into their servers since they are using my harddrive. I have taken the liberty to attach a picture with the main three features from the accelerator for anyone who's curious about how the popular Netzero HiSpeed internet service works.

I'm doing my best to be appreciative for my internet connection, because I want to have internet access in the future xD .

Amadis, glad to have you here....  Your icon is animated on my puter...  I love music too.  Do you have any music to share?

GB, Netzero’s accelerator does sound like a gimmick. They’re charging you for the use of their software. I know they are some software accelerators you can get for free off download.com. They might be worth checking out.

I had tried over four accelerators. They had unremoval features that often disconnected my internet. I was wishing someone would just make a program that lower the picture quality only.
