The nations number 2 toy retailer, KB stores has declared bankruptcy and will close down itââ¬â¢s 277 stores citing a ââ¬Åsuddenââ¬Â drop in sales. The companies 11,000 employees will be left looking for work.
KB Stores was founded in 1922. The store began as a candy wholesaler and later grew to become one of the largest toy store retailers in the world. KB was able to make it through the first great depression but couldnââ¬â¢t manage to survive the current collapse.
The company plans to launch a going-out-of-business sale at all of its current stores, ââ¬Åin order to take advantage of the last two weeks of the holiday selling season,ââ¬Â KB Toys said in a filing with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Del.
