LOS ANGELES - Meteor showers lit up the skies over Southern California -- and scared some people who apparently thought they were seeing flames from a new set of wildfires.
L.A. fire spokesman Brian Humphrey says his agency fielded 911 calls from concerned citizens who said they were seeing fires across the city skies.
Humphrey says the callers were assured that there were no fires burning in Los Angeles. He says they were likely seeing remnants of the meteor showers.
