Hello All...
I've mentioned already that I am working on setting up music group lessons for children, that combines my traditional music knowledge with toning and expressive movement. I am fortunate that I have done a lot of childcare work in my area, (giving me a good reputation with kids), and there are people who are already interested in this idea. However, it still feels like a big and lonely hurdle to jump to really get this off the ground.
I know that it is best for me to do it myself, but I also have to deal with occasionally feeling despondent and hopeless; not really believing that I am capable of it all. I have to investigate advertising in newspapers, and hiring a venue, plus organising a schedule and writing lesson plans! I have never done anything like before in my life! I am starting with almost no financial backing, and no official credentials or prior experience in business or teaching (though I have taught my own voice for two years with profound results).
A part of me says that people aren't really going to be interested, or I'll not have enough information and experience to share - but I know that is my sabotage alter speaking up. :) However, I thought I would start a journal here to discuss my progress and get feedback and encouragement from people who know about Hyperspace work, and the difficulties of actively working through mind-pattern blocks. :big grin: I'd also appreciate ideas of how to include metaphysical thoughts into the classes in a manner children will understand, and that won't panic the parents!!!
Figuring it all out is a challenge, but I really want to succeed at this because I know it will be a solid foundation for moving on with my life, and also increasing my own musical self-worth and enhanced self-expression.
This is the current bio and blurb I made about myself and the classes. Comments welcome.... :smile2: :smile2: :smile2:
Bio:
I have 15 years performing experience, and 8 years of formal vocal training. In addition, I played cello from the age of 9, learnt basic piano skills, music theory up to university level, and have participated in numerous workshops and masterclasses with the best of NZ and International tutors. For the past two years I have been a self-taught singer, drawing on my previous training and combining techniques from other musical and artistic centres. These include body movement and expression for opening the voice, Toning (a form of vocal release and therapy that relates to many Native musical traditions), exploring sounds outside the usual singing repertoire, and analyzing the effect of mental and emotional states out-pictured in the voice on self-expression, confidence, and self-worth. More recently I have explored unconventional methods of composing, and I enjoy writing poetry and music that reflects my personal experiences.
Purpose:
The purpose of these proposed classes is to encourage children to find their own personal sound and way of expressing themselves, which can carry through into all aspects of their daily lives. Imprinting the ability to develop ideas for themselves as artists in their own right, gives each individual a sense of self-validation and belief in their capacity to contribute worthwhile thoughts to the class. This would be based on a combination of spontaneous vocalising and movement, along with guided exercises. The children will have opportunities to create their own musical/performance pieces, using their own words and direction. All they need to bring to the class are active minds and voices!
