Monsanto - HR 875
#1
I just received a startling email from a friend who made me aware that USA is potentially bringing in a bill that could see your humble back yard vegie patch or that trusty organic farmer down the road being made illegal - if it is brought in one country, it could potentially spread to others -especially with companies like Monsanto influencing.

This bill is HR 875 ( http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.875: )

As Lydia Scott blogs in http://www.campaignforliberty.com/blog.php?view=12671 :

"I have no doubt that this legislation was heavily influenced by lobbyists from huge food producers.  This legislation is so broad based that technically someone with a little backyard garden could get fined and have their property siezed.   It will effect anyone who produces food even if they do not sell but only consume it.  It will literally put all independent farmers and food producers out of business due to the huge amounts of money it will take to conform to factory farming methods.  If people choose to farm without industry standards such as chemical pesticides and fertilizers they will be subject to a vareity of harassment from this completely new agency that has never before existed.  That's right, a whole new government agency is being created just to police food, for our own protection of course.  "

We should also note that it is  Representative Rosa DeLauro who is married to a Monsanto employee Stanley Greenburg that introduced this bill.

Monsanto has already a huge foothold in our food production and honestly the way they mess with seeds dna cannot be good for us or the environment :( Taken further, controlling the worlds food production would definately further the vision of the Illuminati - we need food afterall. There is also the programming aspect of altered food.. lots to look forward to.

I'm not sure this bill really applies to my back yard garden or my kitchen.  According to the definitions in the bill:

(13) FOOD ESTABLISHMENT-

     (A) IN GENERAL- The term `food establishment' means a  slaughterhouse (except those regulated under the Federal Meat Inspection Act or the Poultry Products Inspection Act), factory, warehouse, or facility owned or operated by a person located in any State that processes food or a facility that holds, stores, or transports food or food ingredients.

     (B) EXCLUSIONS- For the purposes of registration, the term `food     establishment' does not include a food production facility as defined in          paragraph (14), restaurant, other retail food establishment, nonprofit food     establishment in which food is prepared for or served directly to the        consumer, or fishing vessel (other than a fishing vessel engaged in           processing, as that term is defined in section 123.3 of title 21, Code of       Federal Regulations).

(14) FOOD PRODUCTION FACILITY- The term `food production facility' means any farm, ranch, orchard, vineyard, aquaculture facility, or confined animal-feeding operation.

Since the bill is in committee, it is worth watching for the inevitable changes before the vote.  Thanks for bringing this to our attention!
