Prince William County police are searching for two tanker trucks that were stolen from a construction company lot in northern Virginia.
The police received a report shortly after 6 a.m. that the trucks had been stolen overnight from the gated lot of construction company S.W. Rodgers in the Gainesville area, said officer Erika Hernandez.
Hernandez said the trucks contain burnt oil. Both have Virginia tags, with license plate numbers TU-92271 and TW-47607.
It is unclear why the trucks were stolen, police said.
In October, a tanker truck carrying fuel oil was hijacked in Baltimore and found abandoned in the District eight hours later with 7,000 gallons of oil missing. Police and homeland security officials in the District and Maryland said they believed that the theft was unrelated to terrorism.
