Delicious Simple Dishes
My parents never taught me how to cook. So while in college I came up with some simple recipes, and they turned out to be delicious. Here are a few of them.
Nutty Cottage Cheese
This is something I invented to quickly give me 30grams of proteins. It's great to eat right after working out when the body is eager to absorb more nutrients. With 1/2 cup giving 13 grams of protein and 2 teaspoons of pistachios giving 4 grams of proteins, that's easily 30 grams in one cup of cottage cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon of chopped green onion
- 2 teaspoon of pistachios
- 1 cup of cottage cheese
Just scrape 1 cup of cottage cheese into your bowl. Add 2 teaspoon of pistachios into the bowl. Then add the chopped green onion. Mix it well in the bowl. Then enjoy.
Yogurt Strawberry Cereal
Recently I turned lactose intolerant, so in order to continue to enjoy that sweet sugar from milk, I need to eat yogurt. But I hated yogurt. When I realize I bought strawberry yogurt and raisin brand cereal, I thought if you could pour raisin brand cereal and strawberries into a bowl of milk, why not treat the strawberry yogurt as the strawberry and milk, then mix it with raisin brand cereal. It was a delicious combination.
Ingredients
- Strawberry Yogurt (Lucerne brand)
- Raisin Brand Cereal
Just throw in some raisin brand cereal into the strawberry yogurt. Mix well and enjoy. After you finish the yogurt, eat a banana! Trust me on this.
Tortillas
On my first attempt to make tortillas, I tried to be as level-headed as possible about what ingredients it needed. It turned out to be delicious. Sorry, no proportions or measurements. I followed my heart.
Ingredients
- Tortilla (Guerrero brand)
- Salsa sauce with chilli (La Victoria brand)
- Chopped smokey hams
- Onion cuts
- Cheddar cheese
- Lettuce cuts
Spread open a tortilla. Pour salsa sauce on the inside. Then add the chopped smokey hams, onion cuts, cheddar cheese, and lettuce cuts, in that order. Cover the top with another tortilla. Fold the tortillas so that you can easily place them between your hands.
When I took a bite, it was very hot! The salsa sauce with chilli, onion cuts, and the smokey hams did it. Be careful on the first bite - don't take a huge one. After I was done, I wanted to make another tortilla :)
Cantaloupe Complemented with Banana Slices
Like how I use to hate yogurt, I had never liked cantaloupe. It felt sweet and bland at the same time. I imagined just the right fruit to take out that nasty bland flavor and make it even more sweet.
Ingredients
- Bowl of Cantaloupe cubes
- Banana slices
Cut out cubes of cantaloupe into a bowl. Then cut up slices of banana. Shake bowl. Then enjoy. This is delicious - don't underestimate the simplicity of it.
