On me the only thing that worked was sitting down and talk.

Before this article came out I remember experts saying grounding was more effective than spanking. Maybe that doesn't work anymore because children today have tons of electronic things at home to amuse themselves.

regarding electronic things:
Recently one old man in my country was complaining on TV how kids nowadays do not play anymore with each other, but they get stuck with PCs and games all day long loosing themesleves in this world and loosing their social nature. For example few days ago a friend of my son came in, and instead of both of them playing something, they both went on compueter each one in diferrent room and that is how it ended. So much about developing friendships, socializing etc.
Back to grounding spanking etc i guess all kids are different and need diferrent approach. Some need talking, explaining, hugs etc, others need more disciplined approach...but that is an art how to raise kids.

I agree with the old mans words, but I must ask Zvezdica, why did you not intervene with your son and his friend and encourage them to play?
