I've been thinking of watching it William. I pick it up and then go naaa..". Then when I return to the video store I pick it up again and repeat...

Is it worth watching? 90 minutes is precious time.

I have the new movie, which also came with a copy of the original one. I LOVED the remake and I would definitely watch it again. I tried to watch the original, but I was not that impressed with it, and I usually love old movies. I thought the remake was much better.

I liked it but thought it was a simple story. Not as shocking as if you were to see the first movie back long ago as a child.

But since you have not seen it yet i will just hold my comments on this until you have, or just dont come here to spoil your watching it.... lol

But like Independence day the movie... Movies make believe that the Govt is just as clueless as the rest of the world about such matters.. They reinforce their stance that they dont know much and are surprised about such things as aliens. Yes Independence day did reveal area 51 but we all know of that anyway and the alien and craft they had in custody gave them no clues whatsoever before the invasion... These movies make us think that our Govt knows nothing and is clueless... That is their function.

I didn't see the original until I was in my 30's so the remake  wouldn't  have that  big let down I think you were referring to William.
