Thousands of shoes tie up Miami freeway traffic
#1
MIAMI – State troopers are looking for a charity to take thousands of shoes that were dumped on a Miami expressway, tying up rush hour traffic.

Lt. Pat Santangelo says the Florida Highway Patrol received a call about the shoes Friday morning.

Santangelo says he's not sure where the shoes came from. There were no signs of a crash and no one stopped to claim them. He says he hopes someone will take them because he doesn't want to send them to the dump.

Workers using a front-end loader and a dump truck were able to quickly clear at least one lane by sweeping all the shoes to shoulder, but delays were expected until they could all be removed.

I seen this on the news, how bizarre, anyone got a theory on how they got there? They certainly look like they fell from the back of a truck!

My theories are:

A truck's doors flung open, scattering the cargo.

An "intricate prank."

A big political commentary on President Bush's recent shoe-dodging experience in Iraq.

I hope that there is a simple explanation for all the shoes.  :?  Sometimes my mind takes a dark turn and starts to wonder -- just where are all the people that belong to those shoes... if you know what I mean.

.... and why do severed legs/feet keep washing up on the shores of WA?  Some barefoot and some with shoes still on.

My hope is this was just some stunt, a group playing up on Bush's shoe throwing incident, or an *artist*/group making a statement, or shoes that had been donated to the poor and this was an accident with a loose truck latch.  I hope the real reason does come to light and the mystery solved.  I heard Soles4Souls is going to pick up all the shoes and give them to the poor in  Haiti.

I thought about the truck theory myself, but how would they fall so consistently, unless it was tip truck! I think it was purposely done, but there is so many and if it is a joke, where the heck did they get so many shoes, where’s Imelda when you need her?

All I can figure is it is meant as a message. Ever since Bush was attacked with shoes people have been using shoes as a message.

Here’s another story about shoes.
