The death toll has increased to at least 115 with several hundred injured due to the Bilis typhoon, pounding the southern and middle parts of China, reporters said.
The New China News Agency announced that the Bilis typhoon, the fourth typhoon to hit China, forced the evacuation of a prison and thousands of villagers.
The Bilis typhoon entered China from the southeastern coast, sweeping away houses, flooding streets and causing blackouts in the region.
Forty three people in the southeastern Fujiran, the most affected area, 39 people in the Hunan, and 33 people in the southern Guangdong, neighbor to Hong Kong, have died.
Eleven people were rescued from a Russian ship that sank due to the storm in the coast of China.
According to the China State Administration Office to Combat with Flood and Drought, more than two million people have been affected from the typhoon and over 75,000 hectares of land have been damaged.
Now the rescue works and the activities to tackle with flood continue, and damaged roads are being repaired, officials said.
