Yes I agree . I've often wondered about the "bad news" thing.  I've wondered does it represent a challenge?  or does it only confirm the impotence they feel  and thus give an excuse  ? or is it the drama ?

All of the above, it creates a etheric poison, but eventually creates non compassion, that is why when there is big news they replay and replay it, to make sure it gets in our heads! Then there is the news that creates hate, and the problem there is people take it into their etheric like it is personally against them, this is what religion is for! Once you start taking in other peoples energy, then you can be even more so manipulated.
