Yes Polly, my thoughts exactly, I was surprised how quick his reactions were also and if you watch carefully it was like he knew it was coming, and yes where were the secret agents? I watched a clip briefly on some program and Mrs. Bush was being interviewed and asked what is was like for so many people to dislike your husband, and she said it was part of the job and they did not know him so it did not get to her, because she knows he is a kind man, ok yep!!!
It could be a ploy for people to feel sorry for him and just as Anu says to create more conflict, there is always a method behind the madnessââ¬Â¦

Bush shoe incident caught Secret Service flatfooted
Greg Gordon and Adam Ashton | McClatchy Newspapers
last updated: December 16, 2008 08:11:27 AM
WASHINGTON ââ¬â Although the Secret Service put everyone who attended President George W. Bush's Baghdad news conference through several layers of security Sunday, the agency appeared to be caught off guard when an Iraqi journalist hurled his shoes at the president.
"We'll be our own harshest critic regarding this incident" Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan said Monday, "and we'll make any appropriate changes to security."
Donovan said, however, that agents on the scene knew that everyone in attendance had been screened for weapons and that they appeared to have taken the "appropriate level of action." No shots were fired as Bush's Secret Service detail joined Iraqi police in taking the shoe thrower into custody.
The arrested man, Muntathar al Zaidi, a 29-year-old employee of Cairo, Egypt-based Baghdadiya Television, remained in Iraqi custody Monday. Officials in Prime Minister Nouri al Maliki's office refused to comment on his condition or on whether he'd be criminally charged.
Throngs of Iraqi Shiite Muslims marched Monday in Sadr City, a sprawling Baghdad slum, hailing Zaidi as a hero and holding up shoes as they demanded his release.
The National Media Center, an arm of the Iraqi government that deals with the news media, condemned Zaidi's behavior as barbaric and harmful to "Iraqi journalists and journalism in general," demanding an apology from his employer.
Baghdadiya hasn't apologized, and it pressed for Zaidi's release.
The Iraqi Union of Journalists took a middle road, saying it was "astonished by this behavior" but urging Zaidi's release "for humanitarian reasons."
Video of the event at the prime minister's palace shows a tightly packed room in which most security personnel were forced to the sides, and 20 video cameras lined the back of the room. The cluster of cameras cut the room in half,
Iraqi reporters had waited inside the prime ministerââ¬â¢s palace for about three hours for the ceremony to start. They hadn't been told that Bush would be in attendance, only that Maliki was giving a news conference they wouldn't want to miss.
About an hour before the news conference, a Secret Service agent arrived and gave waiting Iraqi journalists a fourth and final search.
The room was so crowded that Iraqi journalists added an extra chair in the front row, then crammed in two extra bodies. Two rows of dignitaries, including the U.S. commander in Iraq, Army Gen. Ray Odierno, and U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker, sat in chairs to the right of President Bush. There was no room for their security details, either.
No Secret Service agent was in view on the video when Zaidi threw the first shoe at Bush's head from about 20 feet away and shouted in Arabic: "This is a goodbye kiss, you dog."
Bush dodged the shoe, and Maliki, who was standing to Bush's left, tried to block Zaidi's second attempt, which also missed its target. A Secret Service agent appeared to move to Bush's side, but the president waved him off.
The video shows that another Iraqi journalist, not security agents, pulled Zaidi to the floor before Iraqi police and Secret Service agents piled on him and carried him from the room.
Ever since John W. Hinckley's failed attempt to assassinate President Ronald Reagan in 1981, the Secret Service began requiring journalists to undergo background checks, credentialing and screening with metal detectors.
Donovan said that everyone attending Sunday's event "was searched for weapons and passed through several layers of security'' before entering the room. He said that they also were subject to name checks, identification checks and verification that they represented their identified news employers.
"It's obvious that (Bush) could have been hit in the head with a shoe," he said. "Anytime there's an incident like this, we're going to review it. We're always trying to improve ourselves."
(Ashton, a staff writer for The Modesto (Calif.) Bee, reported from Baghdad.)

It appears that the Secret Service were so confident in their pre-event screening and investigative work that the show thrower took them by surprise. Stuff happens! I think Bush might have tackled the guy himself if required. Hehe. These kinds of scuffles bring out the reppie in him.

Louis Turi thinks the mishap was brought about by the waning moon and that Bush's dragon tail is in Sagittarius, the sign of the traveler.
The following is taken from his latest newsletter dated today:
"All the top people in charge of this great country and our lives are totally INSANE, IRRESPONSIBLE AND IGNORANT, ABSOLUTE INSANITY RULES the White House! What can you expect from Bush's crowd of moronic political ADVISERS, planners and *counselors / guides, secret services etc.? This is exactly how you get a President killed!
Hello Mr. President in case you do not know you are a CANCER and the moon rules your sign, for God sake how can this elite crowd of people church goers be so religious, and be so blind to God's OBVIOUS *moon sign/messages at the same time is a mystery to me? Those political educated heads handle so much responsibilities and the life of our children dying in Iraq including the President himself but donââ¬â¢t expect them to heed God's or Dr. Turi *taboo Moon Power nonsense stuff.
I teach my students to NEVER, EVER launch anything important, travel or put themselves in arms way AFTER THE FULL MOON if they can avoid it. This rules apply for every one of you but especially for all water signs and above all to those born in July and YES Mr. President as a CANCER you are under the full jurisdiction of your ruler above, the moon. When will your moronic cream of the crop political entourage etc. realize that the moon is much more than a dead rock hanging above their scholarly heads and that she literally CONTROL the affairs (and your lives) Mr. Presidents Bush and Mr. President elected Obama?
When will you all elites of the ALL branches of the government learn to heed God's signs and make a good use of this *FAUX PAS, so elected President Obama may benefit from true wisdom and stays alive longer? But will Obama's crowd of political *counselors read Moon Power of the Bible? Well you have your answer so do not be surprised if anything dramatic (and it will) takes place some days in the future. NO ONE is above God's rules but NO ONE in power has been taught how to see, understand and heed the creator's divine message.
Continued - Not only you escaped with serious injury Mr. President but the shoe is an omen (its part of my gift to translate physical omens too) and a shoe is what is used to walk on the earth too. This means a serious sign for you to wake up with a big kick on the head and be more logical and rational in dealing with a totally religiously poisoned country (and allies) and realize that they are as Cosmic Conscious are you and your entourage. Now the *legacy of doing secret trips when you feel like to Iraq (or when your moronic political entourage decides if OK for you to do so WHEN IT IS NOT!) the waning moon energy wont go away that easy and will escalate out of your control drastically.
You gave *birth to a negative energy and EVIL was born out of your and your adviser's ignorance and refusal to respect the Cosmic Code (or God' signs). Why not applying your will and true wisdom to avoid making more errors before exiting the white house Mr. President? Messing up with your Dragon's Tail (negative) in Sagittarius (religions/foreigners/foreign lands) brought so much pain and suffering (and the economy to a halt) to everyone of us because you and your political entourage are unaware of God's language.
THE OBVIOUS PREDICTED RESULTS!
Protesters across Iraq Tuesday urged government authorities to free the TV correspondent who threw his shoes at U.S. President George W. Bush.
At least my work will benefit the CHILDREN OF THE FUTURE and the a small portion of the mass and all will become more aware and make a note of my heeding after the full moon?
The brother of the journalist who hurled his shoes at President Bush said his sibling's actions were "spontaneous" and represented millions of Iraqis who want to "humiliate the tyrant." Dhirgham al-Zaidi described his brother's hatred for the "material American occupation" and the "moral Iranian occupation."
Now do you want more proof? DO NOT OR AVOID FLYING AFTER THE FULL MOON! unless you respect God's order, the Cosmic Code or the celestial rules, and in many of my newsletters taught you how to travel safely during a waning moon because life DOES NOT STOP after the full moon. The past of God in you (your will) is much stronger than the moon and the stars or your natal dragon for that matter, but unless you build enough cosmic consciousness you can only become a robot of the stars (or the moon or mess up with your dragon -Bush did it royally!). So if you are newcomers to my work, please do not email me to learn more, do like all my other advanced readers and catch up with them please.

Stampede for 'Bush shoe' creates 100 new jobs
Robert Tait in Istanbul
The Guardian, Monday 22 December 2008
Their deployment as a makeshift missile robbed President George Bush of his dignity and landed their owner in jail. But the world's most notorious pair of shoes have yielded an unexpected bonanza for a Turkish shoemaker.
Ramazan Baydan, owner of the Istanbul-based Baydan Shoe Company, has been swamped with orders from across the world, after insisting that his company produced the black leather shoes which the Iraqi journalist Muntazar al-Zaidi threw at Bush during a press conference in Baghdad last Sunday.
Baydan has recruited an extra 100 staff to meet orders for 300,000 pairs of Model 271 - more than four times the shoe's normal annual sale - following an outpouring of support for Zaidi's act, which was intended as a protest, but led to his arrest by Iraqi security forces.
Orders have come mainly from the US and Britain, and from neighbouring Muslim countries, he said.
Around 120,000 pairs have been ordered from Iraq, while a US company has placed a request for 18,000. A British firm is understood to have offered to serve as European distributor for the shoes, which have been on the market since 1999 and sell at around ã28 in Turkey. A sharp rise in orders has been recorded in Syria, Egypt and Iran, where the main shoemaker's federation has offered to provide Zaidi and his family with a lifetime's supply of shoes.
To meet the mood of the marketplace, Baydan is planning to rename the model "the Bush Shoe" or "Bye-Bye Bush".
"We've been selling these shoes for years but, thanks to Bush, orders are flying in like crazy. We've even hired an agency to look at television advertising," he said.
Zaidi has been in custody since the shoe-throwing incident, amid claims that he has been badly beaten. He faces a possible jail sentence for insulting a foreign leader, but has reportedly apologised and requested a pardon from Iraq's prime minister, Nouri al-Maliki.
