AJ,

If I was in your area I'd go to the movie with you. However because it's winter there I'd be having a thick winter coat to cover me and pull in front of my face whenever the Joker made an appearance.I may have to borrow yours as well.:D You could tap me on the shoulder or something when he was gone because I'd be covering my ears don'tcha know? But I'd be there to support you.:)
Oh yes I should warn you we may be asked to leave the theater because my shoes would be on the seat when I pull my knees up to protect my lower chakras and my heart chakra. Just so you know icon_biggrin

Very funny, but If you lived near me MN, the movies would be the last thing on our list, we would never be able to stop talking that long to watch a movie, LOL and yes it is winter here but it is not as cold as your winters you would handle it just fine, winter is the only time I actually like to complain, I am very warm blooded, but hey spring is near and I can tell just by the birds that it will be here very soon. However I love to cook in the winter, I have to find a positive.

[color=#0000ff Wrote:SilverInfinity[/color]]Batman doesn't show you much blood but you can imagine it from the Joker's narrative. The Joker's little stories about how his wife had scars, and he tried to show her it doesn't matter, so he scarred his face, but she left him. And now he's always smiling. Those stories do seem demonic or something only an insane person would come up. The joker is suppose to be insane. It was a good movie although very dragged on. There were times I thought the movie could have ended.
That was a very intense scene at the funddraiser when the Joker's laments about his scars.  I saw the film recently on Movie on Demand (a feature with my cable company).  I'm sure the experience of seeing it on the big screen was a lot more powerful.  Yes, I felt the movie was a bit long-winded too.

Another tragedy associated with this film was Morgan Freeman.  He was involved in a very serious car accident (after the film was released).  Morgan had to be rescued by the jaws of life.

Heath Ledger is nominated for a Golden Globe - Best Supporting Actor.  It will be interesting to see if he wins on January 11th.  I agree with many of the posts.  His performance was definitely possessed.  Very scary!

Sily,

I finally seen this movie, like how long has it taken! And yes it is not the same watching it on the big screen, and let me ask you, did you pick up on the section where the personality of Heath/joker changed, you could see that the actor was no longer acting, his personality had taken on a whole different energy.

Sorry its taken so long.

I finally saw the movie also. I liked it. Yes, it was 'dark,' but the title tells you it is. No, AJ, I did not see the part where you say that Heath/joker changed. Guess I will have to watch it again.

And as for the stories he told about his scars, the one about his wife was not the only one he told. I think it was meant to let us know that he was not telling the truth about what really happened to him and left us guessing.

I'm not sure what the fuss was about, I thought the joker was insane but not particularly demonic. More like someone who has nothing left and flipped over the edge. It was dark but not as intense as everyone kept telling me it would be!

Yes, you're right DT........in an earlier scene he talked about his father being abusive to his mother and then the father turned on him, hence how he got the smiling scar, because he needed to smile more.

I read somewhere that the Joker's character was intentionally made to be mysterious.  This is a far cry from the campy version of the Joker during the Batman TV series and Jack Nicholson's sardonic portrayal.  Heath Ledger gave it a whole different evil twist!

YES!  Exactly the way I felt watching him, but I didn't see a change (let me know when you thought it was).  I felt right from the start of the bank robbery, Heath was possessed.

There is a *feeling* I have when watching an actor in a role - - ->> it is never far from my mind.... "okay, good acting, but he or she is acting up there on the screen, and I can still feel some of the actor's original personality there".

...... but, with Heath Ledger in this role..... my feeling, watching him was, there was NO*original* HEATH LEDGER LEFT!  I feel he was completely possessed by ................ some other entity?  Some other energy?  This was a different person (?) I was watching on the screen.

There wasn't one second, in that movie, where I could feel any presence of Heath Ledger left.

Just after Heath died, Jack Nicholson was heard to say on TV, about the death.. "I told him (Heath Ledger) to be careful".  The TV reporters I saw on TV, made it look like Mr. Nicholson was speaking of Heath's problems with Ambien, the sleep med.  I took it to mean something very different - - >> "I told him to be careful (about this role)" because Mr. Nicholson knew a certain danger might be involved?

I told my husband I have seen many movies and many villians in movies, but never have I seen as good a villian, as Heath made The Joker.  He was completely off his rocker, psychotic, evil.

Finally, I want to say......  I think the movie should have been called The Joker.  Or maybe The Dark Knight was The Joker.  A very, very, very DARK Knight.

On a brighter note - You crossed my mind today Astrojewels while I was at work.  I was thinking of you, and when you were going to see this movie.  My thoughts were to post when I got home to ask had you seen the movie yet.  Then I come home tonight and you have posted about The Dark Knight and here I am writing a response.

If my thoughts of you today occured at the same time you were posting... I would say that is quite remarkable and almost a miracle, but a welcomed miracle.  Another case of manifesting... so cool.
