Batman Dark Knight
#31
Ah Sily, your tuning in is amazing… and getting better.

The part that I see/feel/hear him change- during the movie there was a few scenes without his character, he was missing! And then when he had the batman copycat tied to the chair and on a camera, his voice in that scene had depth, and after that he was never the same. I actually liked how he changed the reasons for his scars, I found that interesting.

I thought I read somewhere that Heath died before the movie was finished, I thought someone finished the job or something. I haven't seen it though..I know the death seemed odd.

That was a different movie, Headspace. The one he did right after The Dark Knight. I can't remember the name of it.

I'm still not convinced I'm afraid! A lot of people know me as a friendly, cheery kinda guy, but sometimes when I'm out & bored I pretend to be a total psycho just to freak people out. My whole demeanour changes, the original me is gone, they get scared & guess what they say... yes I'm possessed! They actually think I'm being possessed or something, whereas I'm actually just having a laugh. When I saw Heath Ledger's Joker that's exactly what he reminded me of, of myself switching into the dark persona, and I thought what a great part that would be to play. It's easy to draw upon that dark side of yourself until it appears there's nothing else left, maybe easier for some than for others, but I think that's all it is, something internal rather than anything external. Anyway I'm gonna shut up now, none of us are going to agree on this are we!

Rob,
I am going to totally agree with you, it is easier to be on the dark side, because it feeds the ego and so many other energies that are in our persona, and I agree also that doing this can be internal just like you say, until there is nothing left. I don’t believe that Heath was possessed, I see it as his personal life gave him so much grief at the time and he switched so deeply into that character, and when he did not have the make up on, that deepness stayed with him. Most movies that have a villain commonly have a ‘soft spot’, like a girl, pet or something, but this movie had nothing, he was represented as totally untouchable by feelings, wealth and people, he had no side kick, or assistant and I think that is what shocked/scared people and makes it feel like a possession.

I think you hit the nail on the head there Astro, I always used to want to play a bad guy in something and it always annoyed me that the villains in movies had a soft spot, they'd claim to have lost everything and turned bad but they hadn't really. What I liked about the Joker was that he didn't care about anything, he wanted Batman to hit him on that bike even though it would mean dying, because he didn't even care about his own life. He was untouchable, but he didn't even care about that. This is a state of mind alien and threatening to most people, because what can you do to a person like that? Admittedly, there is a part of me that has always yearned to be that way, which maybe why I liked the Joker, because it was FINALLY a villain I could admire!

Interesting rob that you admire someone like that, that scene with the bike, he knew that batman would not hit him because he has feelings. He may seem like a lunatic but he was actually very intelligent and understood the mind set of people, and throughout the movie he was constantly testing people with what they would do from fear. I think the real villain was Harvey and not the joker, the way he turned bad and went on a bit of a rampage to try and make everyone feel as bad as he did.

Ive not read much of this thread so i can just give my opinion. then i will read the above...

I did not like the movie, it was not fun, it was not good, i have seen cheesier movies that had more of a story. In my opinion they killed Heath just to get better ratings and make up for the loss of a movie money that they would of loss if he was not killed or suicide.. wotever

Not all comic books are for kids, this movie should not be seen by children, nor adults ;) There was nothing redeeming about this movie. Go see some other movie and thank me later :)

just my thoughts.....

I wasn’t impressed with the movie either. What I hate about a lot of movies is they think all they need is some stars and it won’t matter if the script sucks or not. Just like another movie I just watched with Brad Pitt and a bunch of other stars. It was called Burn After Reading. The movie had tons of stars but the script sucked.

Now see I must have a warped sense of humor.I thought Burn After Reading was funny. Not an Oscar nomination mind you but funny. I was taken a back by the violence but that's nothing new for me. I haven't seen Dark Knight yet.  Is it a movie in which I need to be up on Batman history to thoroughly understand? I know  Batman basics.
