Catastrophe Averted
#1
Yesterday (Friday, the 18th) I picked Paul up at work in the center of town.  We then were on our way to a nearby, local restaurant to fetch our Friday dinner.  Just as the light turned green at the intersection we were waiting at, Paul suddenly changed his mind and headed straight through the intersection instead of right because he wanted to go up the hill to pick up the pistol he left at his buddy's auto repair shop that morning after using it to kill another buddy's cow which was very sick and old and could no longer stand on its feet.  He didn't want to wait until the next morning even though he would be going up there anyway.  The sudden impulse to change direction led to a very interesting though jolting event.

After leaving his buddy's garage we headed back down the hill to the same intersection.  We were first at the red light, waiting to take a left.  We were very involved in a conversation about the poor cow.  Suddenly, our truck was bumped from behind.  It startled the heck out of us and I yelled in angry surprise.  WTF??!!  Then the van behind us bumped us again.  I turned around to look at the woman in the van.  Paul jumped out of his truck and walked back to her van and began yelling at her.  The preferable ideal of cooler heads prevailing at that moment failed to manifest.  Anyway, she had lost her brakes.  She had been pumping them as she came down the long hill and towards the bottom of the incline the brake pedal went to the floor preventing her from stopping.  That's when she bumped us.  No one was hurt and there wasn't any real damage to either vehicle.  Paul and I drove over to the police station to find a cop while she pulled into an adjacent parking lot to wait.

When we drove back to the parking lot the poor woman was very upset and shaking so I talked to her for a bit.  I felt bad for her because we had been angry at first in our surprised reaction and Paul yelled at her.  Initially upon impact and for some dumb reason, I thought she bumped us on purpose.  (Conspiracy, you know?)

The cop tried her brakes and they worked but her work van was going to be towed in case she lost her brakes again on the way home.  She was too afraid to drive it.  I don't blame her.

If this woman’s van had not been stopped by our truck, she would have ended up in the middle of the very busy intersection and no doubt there would have been lives lost or serious injuries attained.  Do you see how Paul seemingly spontaneously inserted the truck into that physical spot for that moment?  I think this was a karmic balancing of sorts because lives were prevented from being messed up.  This is the second time something like this has happened.  The day my beloved cat, Buddy, died in March of 2002, Paul saved the life of a man while at work who had fallen down after getting out of his car and the car was about to roll over him.

Thanks, Dream Time.  If we had gone right instead of straight at that intersection and done what we were going to do, by the time we arrived back at the intersection the scene may have been very gruesome indeed.  It took less than ten minutes to go up the hill and back but if we had gone to the restaurant first for quick take-out it would have been more like 15 minutes before we reached the intersection again.

I've had dreams of losing my brakes while driving and it means things are moving too fast and there is no control so I think this lady's life was out of control and we were moved into place to put the brakes on for her.  She also jolted us out of our norm at that moment and I had an earthquake dream that night as well.  It was not a scary dream for me.  As I was waking from that dream I laughed to myself because of the connection to the prior day's events.

Whenever I think about what happened I start laughing.  Even if the dark forces were trying to cause us (me) damage by messing with that woman's car, there was still intervention.  The woman told me she was glad we were in front of her.  She was horrified to think what may have happened instead.

Funny that you say that about having dreams where you have no brakes. I have had quite a few of those kind of dreams and I never really thought about it meaning that things were moving too fast and there is no control. Interesting.

I used to have those "no brakes" dreams quite often. I had them even when I was a child and didn't drive. In some of those I was in the back seat trying to reach the brakes. Later I understood it as  feeling like one didn't have control of one's life.

Yesterday, once again, Paul and I were called upon for a rescue mission.  It was an incredible day of delays which I won't describe in full but I will recount the most important one.

We were headed for NY in the morning and before leaving the area we went to a small restaurant for breakfast.  For some reason the workers were in slow motion mode and we had to wait over half an hour for our order to be served.  This was most unusual.  As we were waiting I began to think we were being held up for a reason and wondered what it was.

Less than 15 minutes after leaving the restaurant we came across a woman walking down a country, wooded road with both of her hands on her head and she was crying hysterically.  As I looked at her while we passed by I did not know what to think at first and exclaimed my infamous, perplexed "WTF?" to Paul.  A few moments later we approached a smashed up vehicle.  Realization dawned.  Paul asked me if I wanted to turn around and I said yes.  Two cars right in front of us passed her and her SUV before us and did not come back.  They must have been on their way to work.  She was headed to a farm store down the road because her cell wouldn't pick up a signal (it was a mountainous area) and her "On Star" equipment didn't function after the crash.

We took her to the farm and I stayed in the truck with her while we waited for the small town police chief and then the EMT's to arrive.  The EMT's were volunteers so they were not "at work," ready to go.  A very calm, composed woman from the farm asked her a lot of pertinent questions and called her husband for her.  This was one distraught lady.  I held her hand the whole time since she could not stop crying. She  already had old spinal injuries from a previous car crash and this crash just exacberated them as well as her emotional state.  She had taken a Xanax that morning but no pain killers.  Her head had smacked hard on the steering wheel  because her airbag did not deploy and she apparently had internal injuries.  She said her car had hit a rock after she pulled out of a side road and she then lost control.

I'm just glad we can be of assistance if needed.  Again we were moved into position.
