Karen,
Yes, weââ¬â¢ve been by the farm and out to his house. We were just out there this last Monday and got a 12 pound pail of honey. We bought some honeycomb and royal jelly too. Thatââ¬â¢s an interesting story about Cliffââ¬â¢s uncle. It sounds like he really loved his bees. :)

Thatââ¬â¢s a lot of honey, what will you do with it? Do you have some good recipes with honey? How is the honey comb? Tell me a bit about the farm, the farmer and his energy, I love to hear stories.
The honeycomb was surprisingly good. I didn't like the wax and I spit it out - even though we were told you could eat it - but the honey itself was so sweet and tasty...yummm...
We use the honey in our tea - and we drink a lot of tea. We eat 2 teaspoonfuls of Royal Jelly with honey per day because it is good for arthritis, your heart and general health.
I loved the beekeeper. Well, actually, he had other people "keep" his bees and he just went and got the stuff. He was an older gentleman and he was just so very grateful that we came to get his honey. I guess he lost 90% of his bees last year and had to close up his one store. He now sells stuff out of his house - which I really loved, BTW. It was built in the 1800's and it had so much character! The bee guy loved to talk and he didn't seem to want to let us go. Maybe he was just lonely. LOL

Karen,
Like DT said we drink a lot of tea with honey, so 12 pounds will only last about 2 months around here. You get a good deal when you buy it by the pail, it comes out about $3 a pound. Yes, the honeycomb is excellent, have you ever had any?

I have tried honeycomb, the taste was nice but I did not like the texture, maybe I should try it again on your advice, that is lots of honey and how do you both feel? I have one large spoon of honey each day, just straight up!
The bee farmer sounds like an interesting man, maybe he was lonely but a lot of farmers just generally like to talk, the house sounds amazing, so why did he loose all his bees, introduced species?

We go though about 2 pounds of honey a week. I get about 8 teaspoons of honey daily. I drink about 4 cups of tea day with a teaspoon of honey in each cup. I drink 2 glasses of apple cider vinegar a day with a teaspoon of honey in each glass. Twice a day I take a teaspoon of honey with royal jelly a day. DT is a big honey addict. Iââ¬â¢m not even sure how much honey she is using. Lots of times she uses 2 teaspoons per cup. She said she even dreams of honey and wakes up craving honey. We may have to put her in rehab if her addiction gets any worse. icon_lol
The bee keeper said there are many factors why they are losing bees but it sounds like Varroa mites are a big problem. It sounds like some bee keepers have discovered powdered sugar works good at eliminating the mites.
I'm gonna kick your arse for lying about me the way you do! icon_zidane

So are you trying to say that you didnââ¬â¢t tell me that you wake up craving honey?
