Computer Problems
#11
What a nightmare my computer has been. I got the hard drive replaced but for some reason I couldn’t install my backup. So I had to install fresh copies of all my software and I’m still not finished doing that. Then the software I install has to be update online. Updating Windows XP took half a day. You have to download updates in groups and do a million restarts. What a headache this has been. Another headache has been trying to remember and locate registration numbers, usernames, and passwords. I think it will take me another week to get this computer back to normal but at least I got it back online now. Cool

Richard, I think Silverinf has a good idea about backing up with norton ghost, Ive never used it as i like reinstalling Xp over and over again.  I never do any of the updates as most are not needed when you know your just gonna crash yer computer anywayz!     j/k

I think I will buy Norton Ghost. I like installing fresh too but the copy of Windows that I had was sp1. A lot of software I use runs best on sp2. That’s why I had to do a ton of updates. My Windows wouldn’t activate either because I changed the hard drive. So I had to call Microsoft and explain that I changed the hard drive and then they gave me a new number. So it’s all very time consuming and I wished I had Ghost at the time. I know better now, like they say “live and learn”. ;)
