Depression

Octahedron, I know Beatles music has programming in it, all popular music does. Even though the Beatles music had programming in it, I still feel they were one of the greatest bands of all time. I especially liked John Lennon. He was very talented and had one of the best voices I’ve ever heard.

Weng, you need to listen to some Beatles music and some of John’s music too. I grew up listening to their music and its great feel good music. Since you’re new to the Beatles, you can even have fun figuring out the hidden messages. :unibrow:

Wee, woo,  The Beatles songs might be loaded with programming but I dont think they knew it was going on.  Not at the first though....  Then it seemed like John might of been thinking something was wrong but Ono came into his life to help him forget and discract him......  So that is one theory.......

SI, you need to find a soft sad song to cry with.  Let it out man.   I sometimes go down to the playground and watch the kids play then that makes me think of all the fun ive missed then I start crying my head off but the kids just look and me and run away, then that makes me cry more......  Ahhhhh  I feel better!   :crybaby:

SI, If you could find the song...  Seasons in the sun, by Terry Jacks.  I just love the heaviness of that song.    I will loan the song to you if you want sometime.   Yes I love sappy songs!

Seasons In The Sun

( Terry Jacks )

Goodbye to you my trusted friend
We've known each other since we were nine or ten
Together we climbed hills and trees
Learned of love and A B C's
Skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.

Goodbye my friend it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
Pretty girls are everywhere
Think of me and I'll be there

We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climbed were just seasons
Out of time......

Goodbye Papa please pray for me
I was the black sheep of the family
You tried to teach me right from wrong
Too much wine and too much song
Wonder how I got along.

Goodbye Papa its hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
Little children everywhere
When you see them I'll be there.

We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song like the seasons
Have all gone.

We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song like the seasons
Have all gone.

Goodbye Michelle my little one
You gave me love and helped me find the sun
And every time that I was down
You would always come around
And get my feet back on the ground.

Goodbye Michelle it's hard to die
When all the birds are singing in the sky
Now that the spring is in the air
With the flowers everywhere
I wish that we could both be there

We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the stars we could reach
Were just starfish on the beach

We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the stars we could reach
Were just starfish on the beach

We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the wine and the song like the seasons
Have all gone

All our lives we had fun
We had seasons in the sun
But the hills that we climbed were just seasons
Out of time......

We had joy we had fun
We had seasons in the sun

awww William you start crying at the playground and all those kids run away?? how do you cry??
lol sorry i dont think i've ever asked the person next to me,"How do you shed those tears and let it leak all out of your system?"

so i thought of asking you..lol..especially since you get an interesting reaction there....

me i run to my room...or some corner where people can't see me because its usually private for me to let it out...often if i cried in public people would discourage it somehow...so i like to be alone..or if at least if someone is crying with me..then i'll feel its okay to cry..ahem..in movies.....but then when i'm in my room or some private area.... i'm not even truly free...me thinks even departed spirits/angels/aliens..god knows what...even oversoul..and all our crazy alters.. can see ya cry too...sometimes you don't even want them around when that happens!

sheesh.

Just a quick shout out!!! Ever since I was a little kid that song has moved me to tears....It was the first song that embraced the real "realities" in life.  As apposed to all the other "pop/love" based nonsense they were pushing in the 70's...I think I was 4 & that song hit me like a ton of bricks definately a trigger....

Now, that song inspired me to seek out other "sounds/songs" that embraced the bittersweet reality of living on planet Earth...& that led me down the rabbit hole of my personal experiences that led me to have relationships with "professional" musicians & a career in music.  Now with all those experiences I truly wonder if I was specifically programmed....I saw way too much in that business & it really scared me...but, those experiences led me to Stewart & this incredible website & other like minded people!  So greetings ya'll..

But back to the question of despression....I sometimes think that we as human animals are "sensitive" to others mood & emotions. Now compound that with ELF & other stimuli sometimes I wonder if depressed feelings have a true origin or are they are just feelings pushed onto us....just a quick offering in how to decifer one's own true feelings...

But aren't most depressed feelings just a suppression of fear manifested in different ways?

I thought depression was a suppression of anger....

well remember Janet has had an article on peeling the layers..you only know what it is once you're releasing it....

hearing Tears in Heaven and Amazing Grace at two different wakes made me cry......

but then again i like being emotionally moved.....by music of all kinds...

i think if I heard that song Seasons in the Sun...i'd start crying too.......

some songs from bollywood movies make me cry too....like "Mitwa"(means "friend") in the movie Lagaan (which means "tax")...

even hearing this one song about the praises of India..."Vande Mataram" "I salute mother india"...moves me to tears sometimes...

certain scenes from movies also...like from BraveHeart, Beaches, Artificial Intelligence(you know....the android longed for his human mother...)

Well you've gone and done it again, William.

'Seasons in the Sun' was one of my biggest 'tear-jerkers.' I could never sing that song straight through without the 'boo-hoo's.'icon_frown

You know...thinking about it, songs can sometimes bring on depression instead of alleviating it.  Another song that does it for me is 'Turn Around.' I used to sing that to my girls when they were little, and now when I hear it or sing it in my head, it reminds me of all the things I missed and how they don't need me anymore. icon_rain

So maybe, S.I. you don't want to listen to songs unless you know for sure that they will make you laugh and act silly. icon_2irre

  Purpleparrot, hey are you back?

Silversister, Nice to meet you.  What music or instruments do you play?  What music do you like? whats your sign... hubahuba.....  Just kidding....  I see your an aquarius, you will find a poll on some thread to count your sign.

Well there is a big story behind Seasons in the sun song.....   Terry Jacks did not write it but that version is the best.  It was Kurt Cobains first record he bought as a child.  It was written from a man who had cancer and died a few years after the song 1978.    I think it was just a truthfull song of earthly living and feelings.  Originally "Le Moribond" ("The Dying Man"), this was written and performed in French by Belgian poet-composer Jacques Brel in 1961.  Terry released this on his own label, Goldfish Records, and was amazed when it became the largest-selling single in Canadian history -- more than 285,000 copies sold in a matter of weeks. Bell Records vice president Dave Carrico heard the record, flew to Vancouver, and snapped up the American rights. Bell released the song in the US, and on February 14, 1974, it earned its first RIAA Gold Award for sales of over a million copies. Eventually, it sold more than three million copies in the United States alone. Worldwide, the figure is over six million.

Dreamtime, SI said he cant cry so I was trying to help him........  But he might cry after reading your thread! :crybaby:           Crying helps to loosen up the Heart center!

        The Cry of Love!

Dreamtime, im not sure of the song you named, who did it?  Turn around?

Looong time ago  I use to pretend like im crying and my dog  would start howling with me.    When I hurt myself really bad my white cat would sit right where I was hurting as if she knew.......  She is dead now so that makes me wanna cry!  :crybaby:

Crying helps to clear out blockages of energy even in the stomach area......

Was the original song "Le Moribond" in the style of the french-language chanson??  This genre is famed for it's dealing with gritty life-realities.  Edith Piaf is a good example. :D
