Gold is just valuable cause it's hard to get. A few centuries years ago, aluminum was worth more than gold. There even existed aluminum bars. Do you want an aluminum bar? Probably not.. cause it's worth like a buck today.

Gold does have rare, intrinsic properties unparalled anywhere.
