Don't Answer A Charging Cell Phone?
#1
3-14-8

Note - Snopes indicates this is possible. -ed

A few days ago, a person was recharging his cell phone at home.

Just at that time a call Came in and he answered it with the Instrument still connected to the outlet.

After a few seconds electricity flowed into the cell phone unrestrained and the young man was thrown to the ground with a heavy thud.

His parents rushed to the room only to find him unconscious, with a weak heartbeat and burnt fingers.

He was rushed to the nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Cell phones are a very useful modern invention.

However, we must be aware that it can also be an instrument of death.

Never use the cell phone while it is hooked to the electrical outlet!

Richard, the website has been changed since it now it reads "Note - Snopes suggests this may not be entirely true and could be a re-telling of the true story of potentially explosive or flammable cell phone batteries. Snopes maintains there is no known or general danger of electrocution from answering a charging cell phone -ed" which seems to say the opposite.

I went to snopes to see what it says:

Claim: E-mail claims that using a cell phone while it is being recharged poses a serious threat of electrocution.

Status: Multiple:

Using cell phones while they are being charged poses a general and serious danger of electrocution: False.

Some cell phone batteries can explode and/or start fires: True.

Interesting, thanks for the update. I never tried to answer a cell phone while it was charging. So I didn’t know if there was any truth to the story or not.

I'm not going to try it.... YIKES!  I do know my cell phone gets warm when it's charging.

Just for the record, I've seen Snopes deny info that I knew to be true. Be careful. I used to take their word for things, feeling it was well researched, but now I don't know.

I have made lots of outgoing calls while my phone is recharging. Still alive so far.

Maybe it's only incoming calls or perhaps I've just been lucky til now.

I've answered the phone while my cell phone was charging..I've even had a discussion with people on my cell as it was charging...I've called people from it..I've sent and received text messages too..

I'm still here, nothing not even a slight chance of shock or electrocution occurred.

I have done this with most of the cell phones that I get from verizon..motorola or samsung.

I even set my alarm clock on my cell as its charging..

Thats what I can tell you.

I'm not saying, why don't you all try it!!

I'm just saying I've done this and nothings happened..for years!

peace and love
