Iceland best place to live, Africa worst: UN
#11
One of my daughters got it into her head to move to Iceland so I did some research for her.  She ended up not going, but it seems like a nice place.  It's hard to immigrate there, though, you have to have a letter of employment to get in.

Greenland has all the ice, Iceland has more green area.  My favorite discovery is that the highway crews will move the path of construction rather than disturb any fairies.

Hi Polly,
What’s cool to some is cold to me? I just do not like cold weather, and I have never in my life seen snow, can you believe it?

Everybody, DT and Richard are the only ones who replied to my question.

Where is your dream location? Anyone

I think I'm rootbound ! I've thought about it and as I see nowhere in the world immune from the calamity of human nature and the dark ones I would have to say my ideal place is right here in the states. But then I'm Native American from both sides of my family and direct descendant of Pocahantas on one side ,indirect on the other.

I had a similar discussion with a friend recently. She suggested it has a lot to do with roots. I have to agree. My cousin's daughter is 6. She was born in Sweden, the homeland  of here father,  has lived in a few countries in her short life and traveled extensively. She now resides in Hong Kong. When people ask her where she lives she looks them straight in the eye, in a defiant ,penetrating way I'm told, and says "Kentucky". lol!! She loves Kentucky as do I, land of her mother's birth.   It's kind of sad actually,as their eventual residence will be Brazil.

I do think if I had to move out of my homeland I would choose Southern Ireland. Again.. roots.

MN,
I don’t think it is weird, most people I have ever come across love their birth country, they might have left for reasons of survival, a better way of life but they do have that connection and always will I think. It seems your cousin’s daughter has her best memories in Kentucky, her happy times.

I don’t like blazing heat or extreme cold. If there’s a place on this earth where it is in the 70s everyday is where I’d like to live. Tasmania sounds close to a place like that. I just need to win the lotto and then move out there. ;)

Great topic.

Maybe in a next life I could be a farmer in the remote areas of Southern Argentina.

A lot of space, silence and simple life forms.

Sometimes Western Australia seems attractive to me because of the warm climate and plenty of space and silence. However I understand it is very under NWO-control.

Richard, Do you know that there is just such a place in the states?  I'm with you . I don't like extremes in temps either. Or a lot of wind.

Octahedron, I understand your need for quiet but do you really want silence? There are  many days I crave to hear the sound of little kids laughing and playing.

If you're referring to the silence like when the power goes out I totally understand.

Octahedron,
I can tell you first hand, we are not under as much control as is claimed, yes we have problems. I think the way you can determine how each country is under control- is to focus on what ‘you can do’ and not what ‘you can not ’, and here we still are very free compared to many countries. Where I live is quiet and a little slow for some, you take notice of different sounds, there is never silence, there is no traffic noise, but in this quiet the trees sway, and each type of tree has a different sound, together they are like a symphony, to me that is freedom.
Richard,
Tasmania and New Zealand are the last two places where you can get pure water; the water from Tasmania is like nothing I have ever had.
I love oz, but if I had to choose somewhere else, I would live on a small island near Fiji, eat only nature’s treats, swim, hike, no technology, and no shoes.

Iceland looks so pretty and I might visit in the future but ...........

as a permanent residence put me down for The Big Island, HI.  I too will be barefoot, listening to the palm trees rustle, feeling the "trades" every day, floating around with the manta rays and green turtles and viewing the stars from the top of mauna kea.  Can't forget the great sunsets/sunrises.
