Is Silver car the safest colour car to drive?
#1
"...A study in New Zealand looked at the effect of car colour and the risk of injury in a crash, and suggested that silver is the safest colour. The study was published in the British Medical Journal in 2003..."

"...Is it true that red cars are the ones that are the most likely cars to experience a car crash?..."

Interesting study but I have to disagree with silver being the safest. I’ve owned silver cars and it seems like more drivers would pull out in front of me and cause me to slam on the brakes than in any other color. My theory is being silver blends with the road and drivers are less likely to see it. Red and yellow are the most visible colors and that’s why fire trucks are red or yellow and school buses are yellow.

At night time, Silver and White, (and maybe Yellow) seems to reflect light more efficiently then other car colors.  That could be one of the reason it's consider to be safest...also.

Just saying...:big grin:

That kind of makes sense. Perhaps on sunny days silver and white are easier to see. I’ll have to pay attention to it on my way to work tomorrow. :)

I agree that silver is the safest color of car to drive; I am not disagreeing with you Richard. The color does not protect the car, it actually protects the driver, therefore if you researched car accidents and fatalities, those who drive silver cars are the least to be seriously injured, the color of your car produces a protective shield around your physical body, so everyday you drive it, you consciously put that color around your body without even thinking about it. We bought a silver car for our daughter’s first car, this was important that she is protected.
People are more likely to be injured in a red car, but not attract the accident. This is no different to the colors around your home, office or wherever you spend time, color is everything.
It must also be acknowledged that car manufactures only make certain percentages of colored cars, so white is not really the most popular it is the most common.

The safest cars are the ones with the safest drivers in them - full stop.

Good item !

In Holland insurance premiums are planned to be raised for red, brown, green colored cars, because of this.
