Men who wear shorts in the winter
#1
One of the strangest sites we see here in the winter is men who wear shorts and a hoodie. It seems like about 30% of the men here wear shorts and a hoodie all year round but it really looks strange in the winter. It amazes me that their legs don’t get cold. It has made me wonder what is the mind pattern behind someone who has a cold upper body and hot lower body?

Does anyone have a clue about this?

I don't know about mind pattern but I would wear shorts in the winter if I could do it and not freeze.  As it is I wear merino wool or duofold long johns under my pants every day and I start early in the season.  I love guys who wear shorts in the winter.  I get a laugh from it.  Isn't it a macho thing?

The legs bring one into the future so they must feel they don't need protection.

I like wearing shorts in the summer but in winter I wear long johns and pants too. I don’t know if wearing shorts in the winter is a macho thing or not. I wondered if they had an aversion to pants for some reason. One time I saw Adam Sandler on the Tonight Show and he was wearing shorts. Jay asked him what’s up with the shorts and Adam acted like he had an aversion to pants and he hardly ever wears them.

We asked one person wearing shorts if his legs get cold and he said only when the wind blows. The wind was blowing, so that meant his legs were cold but he wore shorts anyway.

I looked around the net for theories and one person thought it was mostly young guys who are now on their own and they don’t have a mother telling them not to wear shorts in the winter. I have noticed it’s mostly men under 30 who wear shorts in the winter but occasionally I see older men wearing them too.

I watch the Judge Judy show and once in awhile men show up wearing big baggy shorts and she tells them to leave the court room. She always asks them if they knew where they were coming today and they say yes but they act like they have no clue that you shouldn’t be wearing shorts in court.

There are some people who are like walking furnaces.  They give off copious amounts of heat even in the winter.  I see lots of guys, young and old, with shorts on in the winter.  I envy them.  One postal guy told me years ago it was a game they played in the winter to see who could tough it out the longest during work hours while wearing the shorts they were given as part of their uniform.  These guys had routes where lots of walking was involved in delivering mail as well as riding in the mail trucks.

I've always envied folks who could stay warm with little assistance from clothing etc. Those walking furnaces Polly is referring too.My husband is like that in some regard.  In autumn he sleeps with no  or 1 thin blanket to my 4 or 5 . We have various fill down comfortors  too that I use and will soon employ.

My husband will walk around without pants on.  I think he's one of those *walking furnaces*, even in winter he does this.  He might be nuts.  He was in the kitchen the other night -- no pants on, and I was looking at his legs.  I said "Aren't your legs cold?"  He said no and thought it was no big deal.  icon_nixweiss

I hope this next part isn't getting too personal --- I always put on pants when walking around the home but refuse to sleep with any clothes on - I think I have been doing that for over 25 years.  If I had to go to bed with clothes on, I bet I couldn't sleep!

I don't even wear shorts in the summer! Maybe I will once I become a skinny twig again, but I am comfortable like I am. Silly...umm...do you mean your hubby walks around naked? I bet you don't get a lot of surprise visitors, huh? :-)

Sily, I sleep in the buff too and have for at least 40 years. I don't sleep well if I have to wear nightclothes .

Dreamtime - we don't get a lot of visitors, thank god.  But it's 8:10 AM now, I'm looking at husband at kitchen table eating breakfast and he has on tighty-whiteys, legs exposed, t-shirt and white socks.  I just let the dogs out and checked the temp... it is 38 degrees outside!

Okay, I just felt his leg and it feels cold to me.  He says he's not cold and feels okay.  He's a bit nuts, I tell you!  :D

Probably more info than you need but -- what do I have on now?  A long flannel night gown and long pants under my nightgown.  And fuzzy warm blue slippers.  I don't fool around with temps in the 30's!

Mercy Now - I can't tell you what a comfort it is to hear another person who sleeps in the buff.  I just don't like the feeling of clothes on sheets.  :?  I'm never cold in bed because of flannel or jersey sheets, quilt and a white fuzzy blanket.
