New winter storm plows across Midwest
#11
DT,
I hope you get snow for Christmas, and get to have what you love most, I am sure that the majority of people prefer snow because as you say the stories always have snow. I remember years ago I watched a film made in OZ, (can not remember the name), Santa was dressed for the hot Aussie summer, he had shorts, t-shirt and thongs, his beard was trimmed and he had kangaroos instead of reindeer. It was a funny show because we are like the outcasts here when it comes to traditional Christmas.
Weirdly enough yesterday we had rain the whole day, it was strange and I do not remember the last time it rained for so many hours, the creek that runs through our property was gushing and I have not seen that for at least 12 years, it has been dry as a bone forever. Miracles do happen, mother nature bites back!

MN,
It was fantastic, I just stood and watched it for awhile, it was beautiful and the smell of rain has always been something I love. we had these really strong winds, and I was standing out back watching my favorite tree, she is magnificently big and energetically awesome, I was watching how she swayed with each flow of air that took her from one side to the other, then she would straighten herself up again, she would stand strong for the next blow, I thought for a minute if we could all be like her and go with each gust, then re-straighten and prepare for the next, she did not loose one branch, she is old, or I should say mature and very experienced with dealing with her mother nature.

That's great to hear you got some rain. Today it got to 50 degrees and melted most of the snow around here. There’s a chance of snow on Monday but it’s only a 30% chance. It looks like it might be a green Christmas around here after all. :(

We have plenty of snow to go around for anyone who wants any for Christmas.  It's hard packed now though.  What is interesting is before we had these last two major storms we had a thin layer of crunchy, crusty ice on the ground for quite a while and all of the grass had turned green again under it.  It was kind of cool.

Well today was 60 something degrees F here in SW Ohio. Doesn't look like we'll get a white Christamas either. I'm happy to report that in my shopping excursions this season most people were well behaved on the road and in the stores. :)

Today was huge difference from yesterday. A huge storm blew in. The winds were 72 mph. I have billions of branches down in my yard. There are trees down all over the town. It’s a huge mess. The temps are down to 20 degrees. Hardly any snow, it was blowing in the air but hardly any of it stayed anywhere. It was just too windy for snow. They’re saying 70% chance of snow tomorrow.

Oh my!  We had some of that wnd last night but not like you did, Richard.  There is about 6/10 inch of rain in the rain gauge from that storm.  They were calling for thunderstorms, too, overnight but I don't know if that happened.

Today was a lot calmer and we got a light dusting of snow. So we kind of got a white Christmas after all. icon_3santa

Strange weather all round it seems! We had a very cool Christmas, the morning was cold, and we have also had an increase over the last few months with the wind, the wind just picks up and bang it is there, never been like that here, but all elements will increase with the change off the collective consciousness.
