#1
Today is day four of our storm. Four feet of snow and it is still coming down. I think I am ready to leave now...

I know how you feel DT. We don't have the snow but we do have the deep freeze. Seed and gardening catalogs and books get me through.

Well ladies what can I say without sounding nassssty…the sun is shining, its early morning and warm, its going to get hot, there is not a cloud in the sky, and no wind! A perfect day for the pool… sorry lol…..

Goodness if I had to endure that weather, I could not go out of the house, I would die, or just stay in the kitchen and cook all day! I would be terrible to live with.

AJ, One year, 1978 I believe, it was so cold with the wind chill , that you had to keep blinking your eyes if you were outside to keep them from getting a thin layer of ice over them.

They have their winter coats but at night the horses get blanketed. Their water troughs have heaters(crossed fingers!!) or I would be breaking ice every couple of hours.Barn cats tunnel in the old hay . I'm preparing for chickens this spring and we are addressing how best  to winter them.

I suppose animals are resilient unless you spoil them but that is a lot of work for you. I know this is going off topic, sorry DT, and I have thought about it and done a little research but what are your ideas on why animals are so scared of thunder?

Yes, MN, I remember well those days of being out in the cold and your eyes tearing from the wind and then the tears freezing on your face. Right now our temperatures have been hovering at 0 degrees, and that is without the wind chill factor! It is still snowing out there and, according to the weather, it is supposed to keep on snowing for the next 5 days or so. Poor Richard has been out there snow blowing every day, and an hour after he gets in, it looks like he hasn't done a thing. We need to get to the grocery store really bad, but we keep having to postpone it another day. I used to like the winter (and I still don't mind the cold), but I don't think I like all the snow anymore. My hips are starting to give out big time and I am having a really hard time walking around. This weather is just CRAPPY!! Nice way for the year 2010 to start out!
