It was a joke! I was thanking Richard for providing this separate thread.
I remembered that there was a commercial with the tag line: "thanks, I needed that." But now that I think about it, it was actually from "laugh-in" or some other comedy routine....

Yes I remember that line being from the dirty old man on Laugh In.

 Thanks for the video .However with my  dial up connection I'm unable to watch it.  The song Mercy Now  was also very timely for me personally as both my father and one of my brothers were going through a very rough patch when it debuted.
