Moscow, Oct 09: Endorsing the views of the Russian Communist Party that the US is not a "trustworthy financial leader", Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on Thursday said America, hit by a financial turmoil, can never regain its status in the global market.
"Trust in the United States as the leader of the free world and free economy, and the trust in the Wall Street as the centre of this trust has been lost, and I believe, for ever.
Return to the previous situation will not be possible any more," Putin said at his meeting here with the Communist lawmakers.
"This is not only my view. European leaders, experts, presidents of central banks and finance ministers also directly or indirectly saying this," Putin said in his televised remarks.
The leadership of the Russian Communist Party was 'absolutely right' in the assessment that US is "not a trustworthy' financial leader of the world", Putin said.
Putin had last week blamed the US for displaying "irresponsibility and failure to take adequate measures" at the time of snowballing global financial crisis.
Speaking at the Evian World Policy Forum in France yesterday, President Dmitry Medvedev blamed the American 'economic egoism' as one the reasons for the current global economic crisis.
"It is also evident that economic egoism is also a consequence of the unipolar vision of the world and of the desire to be its mega-regulator.
It is a dead-end policy in terms of global economic development," Medvedev said.
