In a déjàvu moment from Campaign 2006, President George W. Bush again is asking his Attorney General to launch an investigation into the registration of hundreds of thousands of new voters, many of whom are expected to vote Democratic.
Bush forwarded to Attorney General Michael Mukasey a Republican request that he intervene in the battleground state of Ohio to force 200,000 new voters to either verify the information on their registration forms or cast provisional ballots, which are often thrown out after the voter leaves the polling place.
Similarly, two years ago when Bush feared Democratic victories in congressional races, the President ââ¬Åspoke with Attorney General [Alberto] Gonzales in October 2006 about their concerns over voter fraud,ââ¬Â according to a Justice Department Inspector Generalââ¬â¢s reported released earlier this month.
In 2006, the White House and some congressional Republicans also put pressure on the Justice Department and U.S. Attorneys around the country to bring last-minute indictments against pro-Democratic voter registration drives.

VIDEO - The McCain Campaign may not want you to see this
If there's one thing both the McCain and Obama campaigns agree on it's that the election will be close in Florida. The McCain campaign says it has more volunteers than the Democrats and that ultimately gives them the edge. McCain's Central Florida Campaign Manger says ACORN and the Democrats have to rely on paid workers.

Georgia Plans To Hand-Copy 10,000 Flawed Absentee Votes Onto New Ballots
By: malterwitty
This onerous process is both costly and laden with potential mistakes or outright fraud. It begs for a simple and obvious solution ââ¬â hand count the ballots instead of transferring the votes. It can only be assumed that state law prohibits a hand count. However, there must be some emergency exceptions available to avoid the ridiculous solution of hand-copying votes to the equally ridiculous problem of a poorly conceived ballot.

Voters say they were duped into registering as Republicans
By: malterwitty
Dozens of newly minted Republican voters say they were duped into joining the party by a GOP contractor with a trail of fraud complaints stretching across the country.
Voters contacted by The Times said they were tricked into switching parties while signing what they believed were petitions for tougher penalties against child molesters. Some said they were told that they had to become Republicans to sign the petition, contrary to California initiative law. Others had no idea their registration was being changed.

ââ¬ÅA poll worker directed me to a touch screen voting machine & instructed me how to use it. I touched ââ¬ÅObamaââ¬Â for president & nothing lit up. I touched 2 or 3 more times & still nothing lit up. I called the poll worker back over to tell him I was having a problem. He said I just needed to touch it more lightly. I tried it 2 or 3 more times more lightly with the poll worker watching & still nothing lit up. The poll worker then touched it for me twice ââ¬â nothing lit up. The third time he touched the Obama button, the Cynthia McKinney space lit up!

Texas: Straight Party Voting Leads To Lost Votes
Voters were misinformed Monday at an early voting location at Randalls on West Ben White Blvd. As voters waited, the Travis County Elections Division said a "poll cat" gave voters inaccurate instructions.
"He said... 'Let me tell you, make sure you vote straight ticket, then you also vote for Obama to make sure the vote counts,'" said Erica Prosser, who witnessed the incident at Randalls.

In North Carolina, a group of McCain supporters heckled a group of mostly black supporters of Barack Obama. In Ohio, Republicans are being accused of trying to scare newly registered voters by filing lawsuits that question their eligibility.

Surprise, Surprise: E-Voting Glitches Found In Early Voting
The GAO had warned that there would be some pretty massive e-voting problems this year, as election officials were not properly trained on the already problematic machines, so it should come as little surprise that over in West Virginia, the "early voting" procedures have resulted in numerous complaints that the e-voting machines selected the wrong candidate. The scenario is depressingly similar to the one that The Simpsons predicted, where the voter selects one name, and the other one shows up as highlighted.
