Why is there so little participation on this forum?

There are plenty of topics here, and most of them have just 'views'....................

Because it's a small forum and it doesn't thousands of members like larger forums. Also this section is mostly the news part of the forum. Most of the discussions take place in the senior and advanced member forums.

Yeah but what's with the 90+ views a day, and no input?

Within several minutes of posting this, it instantly got 15 views. Do people just like to watch?

I see threads here which look like they took a long time to write, and they only have views.

Rich don't feel offended by this, but it looks like HFC is mostly drug abusers that have their mouse on the 'recent' button waiting for some kind of psychedelic post to supplement their trip. Thoughts on that?

You act as though you never seen a small forum before. This section of the forum is open to guests and search engines. That's why there more views than replies.

This forum isn't that small. It's 6 or 7 years old with a very large members list.

But of course, it would look like I'm attacking this site with this thread, so I'll stop.

I'm talking about active members, not members who are no longer here. This forum and lots of other forums get people that make a few posts and then disappear. My guess is this forum has less than 50 active members.

I'm curious as to why you're concerned about it? Do you stop by all small forums and ask why there isn't tons of replies?

Still the opportunity for input is offered here. Unlike only Q&A  programming sessions with "tools" at other sites.

Sometimes people have nothing to say and feel the information supplied is enough for them not to ask further questions.

I think thats a valid question. I really enjoy this forum. Yet I sometimes feel intimidated to post or reply because some people can be patronizing if your knowledge level is not as advanced on these topics. So I resign myself to reading with an occasional post that doesnt seem to spark anyones interest. :} I keep coming back though so I guess Im one of the 50!

I'm glad you like the forum Andrea. I know some people seem like they're being patronizing but I don't think they mean to across that way and they probably don't even realize that some people see them that way. Don't let stop you from posting because we value your input. :)
