dream theme...rooms
#1
I am attaching something I wrote about five years ago for a college class.  I am posting it here for discussion because I have actually become acquainted with a home that fits the dream pattern and it is one I will be moving into soon.  What is interesting is that the home was brought to my attention because of the work I do, which help people find housing to rent.  Each time I make a visit to the home and find out there are more rooms and each room leads to another room like the reoccurring dreams I have had for the last three decades.

(not sure if the link still works as the writing is five years old)

I have been interested in dreams for quite some time and often write my dreams in a journal for reference. A helpful website for dream analysis is found at http://www.bobbieann.net/DreamSymbols.html/.  The analysis of dreams on this site is based on Jung’s reference to  “the shadow side of our personalities and the archetypes of collective unconscious.”

Since I am aware of many of my dreams, I decided to use a reoccurring dream theme for this assignment.  The most common reoccurring dream theme is one in which I am in apartments, homes, castles, or other large buildings exploring rooms that I am familiar with and then finding myself in secret rooms.  I actually like these dreams because it is exciting to find the secret rooms and to explore.  I have always compared these dreams to the game of Clue or movies where there are secret passages behind bookshelves.  Maybe I read too much Nancy Drew as a kid?  Anyway, the website analysis for “rooms” is as follows:

[size=rooms -  the subconscious is often thought of as being divided into rooms where we keep or hide different memories or aspects of ourselves.  Opening a door and entering a room signifies a willingness to enter and face these areas that are normally hidden from us.]

I just came across this thread (again) and it reminded me of a dream I just recently had (April 15th, I think) where I found myself in a strange, round house, that supposedly I was now staying at. All the walls in it were made of dark wood. There were 13 arrows created in the floors that, when I followed them, seemed to point at blank walls. Someone in the house told me that the arrows all pointed to hidden rooms in the house. I went to one and wanted to open it, but a lady stood in my way and didn't want me to open it. I got her to move away and I opened it anyhow (hehe stubborn I am). In that room was a dead fetus. Turns out it was the woman's baby and she didn't want anyone to know that she had put it in there. Then I found myself back in the main room where I had first found myself. There was a man there and he was showing me this machine he wanted me to use. It looked like a round wooden cage that they roll bingo balls in. I told him I don't gamble and I didn't want to play it. He kept telling me it would be fun and that I needed to try it, but I kept on saying I didn't want to. That's about where I woke up and the dream ended. Add this to the strange ones I have. Haha
