if you help others for free, is it somehow good for you?

if you help someone for free, are good things likely to manifest later?

According to the law of attraction good deeds will come back to you but it might not come back to you as you would expect. You probably heard of the saying "no good deed goes unpunished". A lot of times the good deed you do for someone will screw you over. The good deed may not come from the person you helped but another source.

that phrase refers to the unpredictability of reality, meaning 'life sux'

what if help somehow accrues a type of notch or marks that is redeemed as a good circumstance later. or maybe not

Depends, I think, on why you do it. Your intention. If it makes you feel good to do it, then do it!

Hi Lone Wolf:)

I agree. I would also add that if you are going to help someone for free ,it means free of anything and everything. Expectation, strings ,obligation etc.

To give you a example of what I meant: say a friend of yours wants to borrow your car to go to the doctor or something. You loan him the car and he totals it out running a red light. He has no insurance or money to repay you, so you're basically screwed. That's why I said no good deed goes unpunished.

Or a real life example of mine is I set this forum up to promote expansions because stew complained no sites were promoting him. I thought I was doing a good thing but all he did was attack me and the members on it. So I got punished for doing a good deed.

Hi Richard

Dunno if I'd use the word "punished." Maybe created a difficult challenge for yourself? As have so many others. Dunno why we do this, or why people will continue to create difficult circumstances in their lives? I could say we're all here to learn lessons, but that seems like too much of a blanket statement to me.  I can't presume that I understand why things happen, or why we do the things we do!

Genetics? Past Life influence? Fear? Lonliness? Or "other"?

I say punished because I'm use to judge Judy saying that. I've watched judge Judy for years and seen tons of cases where someone got screwed over doing a good deed for someone and judge Judy would always say no good deed goes unpunished.

While the above happened it is not the only outcome of your website. So many participate, made frienships, have been helped, enjoy discussing many topics that the average person pays no attention to, provided a place for people of like minds to come together and discuss things.

That , Richard , is a good thing. Many are grateful to you so it was a good outcome. Karmicly, It was never meant for SS. It was meant for the members over the years. SS is behind most of us. We come here to enjoy the website you created.. Sometimes we do the right thing for the wrong reason.

I for one, believe good things come out of good deeds.Cool

it is only when you gain nothing- not thanks, not recognition, not recompense in any form, that a deed may be considered "good", or truly altruistic. then, you pay your down your karma 7x over and will be rewarded by spirit.
