No jobs for US citizens without Homeland Security approval
#1
US citizens who apply for a job will need prior approval from Department of Homeland Security under the terms immigration bill passed by the Senate this week.

American Civil Liberties Union pointed out that the DHS's Employment Eligibility Verification System (EEVS) is error plagued and if the department makes a mistake in determining work eligibility, there will be virtually no way to challenge the error or recover lost wages due to the bill's prohibitions on judicial review.

Even current employees will need to obtain eligibility approval from the DHS Within 60 days of the Immigration Reform Act of 2006 becoming law.

"EEVS would be a financial and bureaucratic nightmare for both businesses and workers," said Timothy Sparapani, ACLU Legislative Counsel. "Under this already flawed program no one would be able to work in the U.S. without DHS approval - creating a ‘No Work List' similar to the government's ‘No Fly List.' We need immigration reform, but not at this cost."

The act allocates US$400 million for the implementation of the EEVS, but the Congressional Budgeting Office estimates the system to cost in excess of a billion dollars.

This does not sound good. Why are Americans doing this to themselves?

GB...Most citizens are not aware of the above facts in the Act which gives Homeland Security and other agencies, like IRS, more power than they should have. When it all comes out, it will be too late to change and we will lose yet more of our privacy rights. The media, as usual, is reporting surface information.

Sometimes I wonder if the USA is under marshal law and they do not know it, Let me ask you as citizens of the United States- I have seen a program called ‘cops’ about the law enforcement, would you say this program is accurate. Are the police and citizens truly this afraid of each other? It surprises me how often a police officer pulls his gun to do a regular vehicle check, and how it takes 10 men to handcuff just one. Guilty by association? Do the police try and overpower you there? Or is it that the police do fear the general population?

Astrojewels,

I've often wondered if we are under marshal law and don't know it"officially" too. As for the show"Cops" I have never watched an entire episode and have only seen bits and pieces of it. From what I have seen it appeared the police were playing to the camera and of course the areas chosen to film were high crime areas etc.

Sadly in our country although we are supposedly innocent until proven guilty it unfortunately doesn't work that way. People who can't afford very good legal representation ,and that's alot of people!!!, are afraid of the police and the legal system. It's also a 2 way street in which the police are afraid of the citizens as we are a heavily armed country .I think I mentioned before that there was a Japaneese general who once said" You cannot invade the United States of America as there will be a gun behind every blade of grass."Of course we know there are many ways to "invade" a country and this has been done and is ongoing in the states.

All that being said the police have their hands full and I wouldn't want their job.BUT....they tend to dance to the elite. IMO

It should be our job to look at the actual laws from government websites.

Yes GB, I agree. Not only our laws but pending legislation as ,for once something goes into effect it can be  very difficult to change.Sad fact is most people are too distracted. This of course is not by accident but by design. It is also by design that people at least subconsciously feel "Resistance is futile." This is perpertrated ,IMO, by even supposedly anti -New World Odor folks who say that voting is an act of  futility because our elections are fixed. Well that maybe to some degree  but by not exercising ones right to vote you have essentially said ,energetically,"I surrender".

Never Surrender!!!!!

Karen, I know what you mean about those cop shows. It always amazes me that they need so many cops just to arrest one person. They’ll have 30 cops pinning a person to the ground and yelling at him not to move. The person can’t possibly move and yet they keep yelling don’t move. It amazes me that they think they need that much force to arrest one person. I guess they’re so paranoid that the person might have a weapon that they’re afraid to take any chances.

I think its BS that we have this Homeland Security approval law to work in the US. They could put tons of people that they don’t like on the no work list. People have already been reporting that they get visits from Homeland Security just because they said something online that the government didn’t like. Bush is running this country like the Nazis ran Germany.

Astrojewels,....... "USA under Martial Law and doesn't know it": HHHMMMMM.....maybe. There are so many laws, directives, talks about implants, stronger ID checks for travelling, work laws, etc. that continue to water down our privacy and freedom.

Homeland security are wanna be cops. They seem to be doing a ‘reverse psychology’ trick on you all, yeh you have the right to have arms but what are your rights to legally use those weapons? If you shot an intruder, would you be charged with murder? without crime, there would be no law enforcement, no lawyers or judges and mostly no control.

I would say law enforcement is #2, with the pharmaceutical industry being #1 with blindfolding the general public.

When I visited the US, I was told don’t do this, don’t do that, I have to say I was amazed at the fear that the general public have of abiding by the law because of the consequences. The authorities do not have that kind of control here. But you do have ten times our population.

When I was over there I purchased a large crystal, well every time I went through airport security it took about 10 of them to work out what it was, I got questioned, why, what do you want it for, what is its purpose? I wanted to say it was a magic bomb and you are all going to die! But I would still be there wouldn’t I?
