Reiki, Yoga, Tai Chi, Qi Gong And Other Energy Healing Arts

"someone told me that it burns energy though"

Hi, Martusika,

Can you clarify this statement? What does "it burns energy" mean as it is referred to here? (Even walking "burns energy".) Which type of yogic practice do you mean?

I haven't found any negative affects from Hatha Yoga practiced in moderation.

I was told that Yoga increases the energy you get into your aura..its more of an energetic work or something like that. Don't take my word for it because I could be wrong.

There are DVD's , books and websites out there that say you can lose weight through yoga..if thats what you mean?

You're supposed to feel better after doing yoga if you do it properly and correctly. I am going to hopefully go back into it on a regular basis during the month of January late December. I manage to do breathwork everyday but not enough asanas.

i heard that in addition to yoga and reiki you have to release the stored energy with sports and other exercises or you will be thin out.

And that is why I asked you what type of yoga. Hatha Yoga by itself does not do this. Many of the people you are talking about are probably Kundalini practitioners. There are many different types of yoga. The statement that they all produce 'energy burn' is not true.

Also, consider other factors such as accompanying diet, natural body types, sleep habits, etc.

If you have any real specifics to back this up, though, I'm open to it. I have studied the topic for years literally and don't see anything to support your statement as it was given. I, too, have seen skinny yogis (in the bad way) but that was usually due to the kind of yoga they practiced or the things they did in combination with that practice (many are vegetarians or have other factors keying into the equation). Hatha can actually be very energizing and relaxing if done right and there is no evidence I've seen to support a statement that it natively 'burns energy' in a way that is bad for you.

I have also seen oddities when people go to all kinds of extremes but this is true for anything (Yoga, Martial Arts, whatever). Still that isn't native to the system itself that's a practitioner's issue.

I don't want to digress too much, but have to say the image feels comforting.

Kris Kringle,

Before I forget, I found the Pranayama exercise in the Hyperspace Healing book very useful in the case you're talking about a need to some physical exercise.

Yes, but still there is a difference for me in doing actual physical exercise. I feel way better exercising.

Thought I'd resurrect this thread as I'd be interested to hear people's opinions on it now there are a few more members.

For some reason I have always been deeply attracted to qigong more than any other system and have dabbled with a few different kinds over the years, and they always made me feel better. Nowadays I do some Iron Shirt breathing exercises in the mornings and it really does energise me for the day.

Personally the only person I've heard mention about energy "burning up" the body is Swerdlow. I can imagine it's true if it isn't practiced properly, but qigong always stresses properly storing energy and using it responsibly so that this doesn't happen. Of all the different kinds I have tried, this simply wouldn't happen unless I did it wrong.

That's my experience anyway, it would be interesting to hear from anyone who has used any of the more traditional energy arts with hyperspace knowledge?
