AndrewX - Thanks!  I had initially blown past that pattern because he likes 'em wild & crazy, but I gave it a second look.  I also looked at this one http://www.crochetme.com/print/802 but I think the one you found looks simpler.  I had started with a pattern I got out of a book and it's terrible!  So I think I'll try the one you found but get some variegated yarn and do something crazy with the colors.  I'll post a pic if I ever get them done!

I would like to see the finished product too, when I was a little girl our grandmother used to knit us mohair bed socks, they were the best and kept you so snug. In those days everyone wore knitted clothes but you just don’t see it much now, what a shame.
