Thank you for sharing this Polly.
I couldn't agree more - even if I might not have suffered from DID/MPD the same rings true when one is going through the various processes/stages of recovering & healing from chronic depression...
Often when the feeling, that things were falling apart was the worst, was when I was able to move forward - even if I didn't perceive it as such during the therapy process.
It's as if you'd have to go through the dis-integration process first before you can - with the help of a properly professionally trained therapist - put yourself back together leaving the pieces that are not your own where they belong - behind & in the past.
Bit by bit.
And, I also very much agree that one has to 're-'introduce one's original birth personality back "into the fold" in order to progress & advance properly in one's healing process.
I intuit very much too that Depression is often wrongly 'mis-'labelled "programming" when in fact that is just a solid misdiagnosis.
Hopefully this link will lift the fog of misperception as to what Depression, as well as a lot of other often, very serious to lifethreatening conditions, really are.
I've had feedback from someone I sent the link to & they found the link to be very informative & helpful in dissecting what exactly their condition was given that the site contains a wealth of information, self-help as well therapies.
Misdiagnosis of a serious condition is the first reason people look in all the wrong places for the right kind of help, understanding as well as appropriate therapy.
The link emphasises on enhancing one's Quality of Life.

I want to add that major depressive disorder can be a mask for other conditions going on with the person.

Exactly. Depression is not always masking specific programming but can be.
I'd like to say something about the original birth personality from what I have read. If this is to be integrated in the cases of MPD, and if it can be, then when it happens it will take over the body and be in the emotional state it was when it went into hiding as a child. It will take time for the original birth personality to grow up because it never did. The alter personalities created did all of the interacting with life circumstances. Therapists often put their clients in the hospital when this integration was going to occur because there you had a young child personality taking over an adult body and lots could happen because of the shock it entailed.

Something came to mind after I posted the above post. Ralph Allison, MD., wrote in his book about how these multiples he treated would attack him energetically and drain his energy. He did become aware of the demonic aspect involved with many of the multiples he treated and found ways for his clients to be rid of these demonic aspects. He became aware of the spiritual problems his clients had and how to access the spiritual for help.

Yes, xanthas, to what you wrote about Borderline Personality Disorder, and a person who is a multiple may have one or more personalities which are borderline or have other personality disorders.
