Paris Hilton "I'm too beautiful for jail"
#1
JAIL-BOUND socialite Paris Hilton has urged fans to sign a petition to pardon her "mistake" because she "provides beauty and excitement to (most of) our otherwise mundane lives".

The 26-year-old was ordered by a Los Angeles judge on Friday to report to a county jail by June 5 to serve a 45-day sentence for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.

Hilton's plea, on her MySpace website, came as her lawyers filed a notice with the court indicating their intent to appeal.

The hotel heiress urged fans to join her in a desperate plea to California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to keep her out of jail.

She wrote on her blog: "My friend Joshua started this petition, please help and sihn (sic) it. i LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!"

The petition reads: "Paris Whitney Hilton is an American celebrity and socialite. She is an heiress to a share of the Hilton Hotel fortune, as well as to the real estate fortune of her father Richard Hilton. She provides hope for young people all over the US and the world. She provides beauty and excitement to (most of) our otherwise mundane lives."

"We, the American public who support Paris, are shocked, dismayed and appalled by how Paris has been the person to be used as an example that Drunk Driving is wrong...

"This petition is to ask Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to pardon Paris Hilton for her mistake. Please allow her to her return to her career and life."

But legal experts say Paris has little chance of staying out of jail.

One experienced attorney who specialises in driving under the influence (DUI) cases said: "Her chances of winning an appeal are little to none. The prosecutors had a slam dunk case. The evidence was overwhelming that she repeatedly violated her probation."

Paris has claimed that police only stop her so they can hit on her. She said: "I think I get in more trouble just because of who I am.

"The cops do it all the time.

"They'll just pull me over to hit on me. It's really annoying. They're like, 'What's your phone number? Want to go to dinner?' "

Last night, the hotel heiress attended lawyer Robert Shapiro's 'Sober Day USA' party accompanied by publicist Elliot Mintz, who she sacked after he admitted responsibility for her 45-day jail sentence. The pair confirmed Mintz had been rehired.

Mintz said: "The rumours of our professional separation were over-exaggerated."

Paris's possible jail time will be welcomed by Christian group The Resistance. They are planning to celebrate Paris' jail sentence by trashing her CDs at US Hilton hotels.

The Resistance founder Mark Diceof , who have previously criticised 50 Cent and Jessica Simpson for being bad role models - will speak at the Beverly Hilton on June 5 - the day Paris is due to begin her sentence.

He said: "The kinds of role models that have come to light recently in America are horrible. "She is an extremely materialistic, uneducated person who rose to prominence because of a homemade sex video. Now we have all these young, preteen and teenage girls who really look up to her.

"We're going to be throwing her CDs in huge trash cans and getting them off the face of the Earth."

Karen, believe it or not but Paris does have a lot of fans. It’s sad to think that a lot of young women idolize Paris. That’s why the Christians are so happy that Paris is going to jail. They’re throwing big parties all over the place. So many people want to see Paris do time that I don’t think the public will settle for Paris getting out of it. I think she’ll do the time and she’ll become even more popular. She’ll be on all the talk shows telling her story about jail.  icon_jail

Celebrate Paris Hilton Going to Jail at a Hilton Hotel Near You

So many people are excited that celebutard Paris Hilton is going to jail this summer but no one is more excited than a Christian group, called "The Resistance" who will be holding parties at Hilton Hotels to celebrate Paris' stint in the slammer.

A nationwide Christian organization known as "The Resistance" -- who often slam pop culture icons for their behavior -- is throwing a party to celebrate Paris Hilton's 45-day jail sentence.

The Resistance, founded by author and radio host Mark Dice, is organizing parties in Hilton hotels across the country to celebrate what they are calling a great day in American pop culture.

The parties, which will no doubt be lame affairs compared to some of Paris Hilton's party spots (i.e. No grey goose and no blow), will be held at the restaurants in Hilton hotels around the country starting at 8pm the night Paris begins her sentence. Partygoers are urged to bring Paris Hilton merchandise like her books and perfumes, which will be smashed and thrown into the trash.

To us, this doesn't sound like good Christian behavior but we'll support anything that is holding events country-wide to dispose of the numerous copies of Confessions of an Heiress and bottles of the vomit-inducing Paris Hilton Perfume.

Sily, Californians like having actors for governors. It’s easy to see why Arnold won. ;)

Richard,
I made that comment with a little sarcasm, sorry. But seriously I was reading in the paper yesterday that someone has put a petition to ‘keep Paris free’ and this person said she brings excitement to people’s mundane everyday life, how bored and shallow are these people if they idolize someone like her, what a world. I can see why the Christians are celebrating but the whole thing really is a circus, don’t you think?

I think people idolize her because they think life is about parties (girls and boys), being skinny (girls), and having all the money in the world to shop (girls). I don't think the guys really care much about her though.

She'll be martha stewart. the public will dramatize a very girlly jail scene rather than homey jail scene like they did for stewart. it'll be fascinating what producers come up next.

I think GB is right; some people idolize Paris because of her money and partying. If it wasn’t for her money, people would see her as just another crack whore. It sounds like the petitions to put her in jail are winning.

Paris petitions go head-to-head online

Dan Harrison
May 10, 2007

online petition asking Schwarzenegger to pardon the heiress, who they said "provides beauty and excitement to (most of) our otherwise mundane lives".

It already has more than 18,000 signatures.

But support for Hilton is not unanimous on the web, with the star's critics launching a rival petition to Schwarzenegger urging him to ensure she is not let off lightly.

The petition, which has garnered more than 33,000 signatures, lists a litany of driving offences Hilton has committed over the past two years and concludes by demanding Governor Schwarzenegger do everything in his power to ensure that she serves her full 45-day sentence.

"For as long as she has been in the public spotlight, Paris Hilton has knowingly and willingly broken the law, and her actions have gotten more and more brazen over the last few years," the petition says.

"Her actions indicate that she feels the law doesn't apply to her, as she has repeatedly flaunted the law in full view of witnesses, often paparazzi and camera crews.

"This petition asks Governor Schwarzenegger to ignore other petitions asking for clemency and show the people of California that no one is above the law."

Another anti-Paris online petition has gathered 180 signatures of people who want to see the "spolit celebrity" punished.

"Paris Hilton is a spoilt socialite, and she must be used to set an example and make a statement for all those other spoilt celebrities," the petition reads.

"Just because you have the money it shouldn't mean you are exempt for (sic) basic laws, ethics and principles.

"If any other member of the public was to be charged with the same sentence they would need to fulfil their time in jail, likewise, Paris is also an American citizen and she should be punished as one. If you free Paris, you must also free all other DUI charges, otherwise it is simply not fair.''

Meanwhile, Hilton issued a statement today through her lawyer, saying she understands the seriousness of driving under the influence and that she is not "above the law".

"I am ready to face the consequences of violating probation," Hilton said in a statement released today by her new attorney, Richard Hutton, a specialist in driving under the influence cases.

"I do not expect to be treated better than anyone else who violated probation. However, my hope is that I will not be treated worse."

Hilton said she released the statement because "I feel the need to correct what I believe are misperceptions about me".

"I absolutely realise how serious driving under the influence is," she said.

"I could not live with myself if anyone was injured or killed while I was driving while impaired. Clearly, no one should - no matter how slightly."

If Schwarzenegger treats the socialite leniently, he may be subject to accusations that his decision has been influenced by political donations from her wealthy family.

Paris' grandfather, William Barron Hilton, the co-chairman of the Hilton Hotel chain, made a $US22,300 ($26,800) donation to Schwarzenegger's campaign for governor on November 3 last year, according to the California secretary of state's website.

If my daughters idolized Paris Hilton, I would certainly not be happy. I think this whole fiasco is about highlighting the ‘Barbie doll programming’, I have noticed over the past couple of years that this programming is growing and so many young girls are affected by this type of ‘plastic philosophy. It is all about publicity, like when her video was circulated, who would be proud of such a thing, yet the negative made her very popular, for all the wrong reasons but she can go anywhere and be recognized. We will see if her illuminati connection gets her out of this.
If she is the heiress to the Hilton empires, how well will she manage these if she does not bother to read important documents?

I agree about Paris being used as Barbie doll programming icon. I was surprised a negative video made her popular. It would have destroyed the career of most of people. I was reading the news today and noticed Paris might not have to serve the full 45 days in jail. She might do as little as 21 days. That should be a piece of cake and then she’ll come out more popular than ever.

Paris Hilton might not serve 45 days

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Paris Hilton may spend far fewer than 45 days in county jail for violating probation because of state policies and jail overcrowding, authorities said Thursday.

Hilton, sentenced last week to do the time, could spend three weeks or less behind bars because of a state requirement that grants inmates time off for good behavior and because of overcrowding in the system, Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

"It's possible that it could be 21 days, 23 days. It's a complicated formula that the state sets down. It's possible that she could do less time," Whitmore told The Associated Press.

As for overcrowding, "our jail is bursting at the seams" and some women inmates have been released after serving only 10 percent of their sentence, Whitmore said.

Last year, "Lost" actress Michelle Rodriguez was sentenced to 60 days in jail for violating probation after her drunken driving arrest in Hawaii. She was released in hours because of overcrowding.

Hilton's time will be determined when she is booked into the county system, Whitmore said.

She will not receive any favors because she is a celebrity, he added.

"She will be treated like any other inmate who's classified as a low-level security risk," Whitmore told the Los Angeles Times, which first reported the development on its Web site.

A call to Hilton's publicist seeking comment was not immediately returned.

Hilton, 26, was sentenced last week for violating the terms of her probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case. A judge ordered her to report to the women's jail in Lynwood by June 5.

Hilton intends to appeal and her fans have posted a petition on the Internet urging Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to pardon her.

Paris reminds me of a circus act.  Always something interesting going on in Ring One.  Thank you Paris, for providing "excitement" to my mundane life.  :P
